I'll share my cooking recipe of Hilsa with Mustard Paste πŸ˜‹πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ³.

Hilsa with Mustard Paste is a popular dish here in our country. Basically this dish of Hilsa fish cooked with mustard paste. It can be cooked in many ways but today I will share with you the easiest recipe of that I follow. Although the recipe is simple, it is incredibly delicious. Anyone can try this delicious recipe. So let's see how I made this recipe.

Ingredients & Steps to follow:

All the ingredients are not pictured here but I made this recipe as per below ingredients.

  • Hilsa fish
  • Mustard
  • Green chilies
  • Turmeric powder
  • Chili powder
  • Salt
  • Mustard oil
  • Chop onion
  • Onion paste

The process to follow:

Here I took 2 tbsp of yellow mustard. If you want, you can add black mustard paste, but if you add black mustard paste, it should taste bitter. So try to cook with yellow mustard paste like me and it will make your food taste good.

I washed them very well at first. Then I soaked these mustard seeds in water for some time because after soaking the mustard seeds, the mustard seeds become soft and easy to make paste. Mustard paste was my main ingredient for this recipe. Honestly the aroma of mustard paste was very nice and spicy.

After that, I took two onions and washed them and made a paste. I added some chopped onions and onion paste to this recipe.

Then I added some mustard oil to the pan for cooking. The specialty of this recipe is that it is cooked with mustard oil and it tastes very delicious. When the oil was hot, I added chopped onions to it. I fried the onion well. At this time, the spicy aroma of mustard oil was coming out. At this stage, I added two green chilies. I cut the green chilies in half, it brings out the taste and aroma of the green chilies.

After cooking these spices for a while I added onion paste. I mixed the onion paste with all the spices by stirring continuously. I cooked all these spices well till the raw smell of onion paste disappeared. Because if the spices are well grind, the food is very tasty. So it should be observed that no spice has the raw smell. It takes some time to extract all these spices and I added each spice step by step. These spices can not be added together because it reduces the taste of the food. Then I added salt to taste.

After some time, I added the mustard paste and after adding it, I mixed it with the spices again for some time. This time I kept the stove on medium heat and I roasted the spices very well. I added turmeric and chili powder when the mustard paste started to smell nice. I added a small amount of water so that the spices do not gets burned. I did not use ginger and garlic paste in this recipe because the taste and smell of Hilsa fish vanishes if I use them.

When the spices were ready, I added the Hilsa fish. Then after waiting for some time, I mixed the fish well with the spices and I mixed the fish very carefully so as not to break the fish. I turned the fish upside down to cook it.

After some time I added some water. Then I boiled the fish well. Hilsa fish gets cooked very quickly. After about 10 minutes, this cooking was complete and the aroma was very nice.

Finally my delicious Hilsa with Mustard Paste was ready. I served this dish in a beautiful bowl. This dish tasted very delicious. I have to cook this dish almost every week at home.

At this stage, I served this mustard Hilsa with hot rice. Garnished this dish with coriander leaves from my garden and served with tomato salad. I liked this dish with white rice.
