A Sustainable Farm that Sprouted in the Heart of a Concrete Jungle 🌱
Because even in the concrete jungles --- life can sprout anew. 🌱
Hello everyone!
Or should I say Wednesday walker?
I spent another me time as I was strolling again Bonifacio Global City the other day. I have been drenched in tons of workloads in the office lately and so I thought to myself I deserve a breather. And as always, BGC has never failed to impress me every time, making it the perfect place to chill and unwind. And I am even more amazed because every time I go to this place, just when I thought I have seen everything, it always has something new to show.
Starting with its skyscrapers that showcase state-of-the-art architectural designs and fascinating facades, it always leaves me in awe. Not to mention that most of these towers were constructed under green building which reduces negative impacts on our natural environment during the whole construction period of the project. It considers a lot of factors so as not to harm mother earth and preserve its natural resources.
But what amazes me more is how well this beautiful metropolitan city has managed to keep the lush green scenery as well as the lovely flowers here, adding a touch of beauty to the place, despite its continuous urban progress.
The ambiance also never fails to give me a relaxing and peaceful walk.
They also have different colorful stuff here in their creative ways. Like these food trucks that have unique designs that I happened to pass. It will always make you stop and snap a photo.
Even the fire hydrant is in full cooperation in making the city colorful. It's just so nice to know how this small detail can make everyone smile, giving everyone a friendly reminder to be octopusmistic every day. 🙂
And then murals.
Moreeee murals!
This walk has let me be surrounded by art. I haven't explored this corner before and it was so wonderfully amazing to know that in BGC, art is everywhere. I took lots of pictures of these murals and look what I've found here. A very cute photo bomber, such a lovely and friendly calico cat.
Hello dear, mingming! Nice paws right there, huh! Looking so furrfect for a meowdel.
And so as I continued my walk, my eyes were wandering in every scenic corner. Until my feet took me to where the highlight of my walk would be. Guess what have I found here?!
...an urban garden.
I was mesmerized. In my eight years of working here, never did I thought that I would find a farm here.
Both my amazement and curiosity took me closer to the little farm that in an instant, caught my full attention. And as I have read what is written on the fence. It said;
"Our journey began with a 530sq m vacant lot in the middle of the city.
With a few green thumbs, a bag full of seeds, and lots of love, we turned a vacant lot into a flourishing sustainable farm that grows fresh produce.
Because even in the concrete jungles, life can sprout anew."
They have grown a variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
Not just that I was entertained by colorful murals again during my walk, but I also discovered something new, something greener, and something fresher. And that was the urban garden that I was surprised to know that BGC has. An amazing encounter with their incredible urban farm that has been growing something for good, which tells everyone who happens to pass by this corner a beautiful story, of how growth has sprouted from change. One tiny idea from those industrious urban farmers that grew into something bigger.
Thank my dear friends for walking along with me and for @tattoo-djay for letting me walk into this wonderful #WednesdayWalk community. Have a great mid-week everyone!
