Chaos Legion Investment | One Week Update | -17.48% ROI
Greetings Splinterfolk!
The purpose of this post, and subsequent posts, is to record my "investment" in the Chaos Legion set and to ultimately determine if it was worth it or not.
My Chaos Legion Strategy
- I waited until the General Sale before I "invested" as the cost of entry was too high for me prior to it. This means that I missed out on the first three airdrops of the 14 total airdrops in the set, however, the Splinterlands team announced that there will be six legendary summoners which will be airdropped last so I don't think I missed out on anything special.
- Firstly, I bought 74 vouchers at an average of $2.5 per voucher ($185 in total) as I was eligible to receive 75 bonus packs from my bulk purchase.
- Then, I bought 500 Chaos Legion card packs at $4 per pack ($2,000 in total).
- Afterwards, I received a 100,000 credit ($100) affiliate payment on one of my alternate accounts since the alt account referred the account that made the 500 card pack purchase. I used the 100,000 credits to buy another 25 Chaos Legion packs.
- After that I received another 5,000 credit ($5) affiliate payment on a different alt account that referred the alt account that referred the original account that made the 500 card pack purchase (Keeping up?). I used 4,000 of the credits to buy one more Chaos Legion pack.
In total, I spent $2185 and received 600 Chaos Legion packs which averages out to $3.64 per pack.
The Results (So Far)
Airdrop Cards | $26.78
Since I purchased all 600 card packs during the first day of the General Sale, I was eligible for all three airdrop milestones that were achieved within the first 24 hours of the sale. As the Splinterlands team mentioned before, if you bought at least 350 card packs then you were guaranteed a regular foil edition of each and every airdropped card. Since I bought 600 packs in total, I was expecting to have at least two copies of one of the three airdropped cards, but, as you can see below, that was not the case. I am quite disappointed with the results from the the first three airdrops, however, I hope that RNGesus is on my side for the remaining eight airdrops to come.

Thoughts and Comments
I am surprised that I have only lost around 17% at this stage in my "investment", as the general sale is still ongoing which means the Chaos Legion card packs on the secondary market are still well below the $4 mark. I am very excited to see what will happen in three to six months from now.
