Chaos Legion Investment | One Month Update | -12% ROI
Greetings Splinterfolk!
The purpose of this series of posts is to record my "investment" in the Chaos Legion set and to ultimately determine if it was worth it or not. If you would like to read all the posts in this series, you can find them here. If you would like to read about the "investment" strategy I used for Chaos Legion then you can read it here.
The Results
Airdrop Cards | $46.31
One month after Chaos Legion released their General Sale, there has been 7,441,218 packs sold and 7 cards airdropped. Since my last update, there has only been one new card airdropped. The Splinterlands team announced that you now required 500 packs in order to be guaranteed the 7th Airdrop Card (Spirit Hoarder). They also announced that from here on out each subsequent Airdrop Card will require an additional 25 packs (500 + 25 packs per Airdrop Card to be released) in order to have a guaranteed drop. Fortunately, I purchased 574 packs on one of my accounts so I knew I was going to receive at least one copy of Spirit Hoarder.
Spirit Hoarder - $22.94
Account | Packs Owned | Drop Rate (RF) | Drop Rate (GF) | (RF) Dropped | (GF) Dropped |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
#1 | 574 | 114.8% | 4.592% | 1 | 0 |
#2 | 25 | 5% | 0.2% | 1 | 0 |
#3 | 1 | 0.2% | 0.008% | 0 | 0 |
Total | 600 | 120% | 4.8% | 2 | 0 |
- I was extremely surprised to receive two copies of Spirit Hoarder since my first three airdrop results were so poor compared to my odds.
- I am extremely grateful for the referral system that Splinterlands has in place since I would never have been able to purchase the extra 25 packs (on the account that received the airdrop) without it. It goes to show that there are always several small things you can do to further optimise your "investments" in Splinterlands.
You can read about my drop rate chances and the frustrating results for the 4th - 6th airdrops here. Below are the the highest Bid Prices for a regular foil edition on Peakmonsters after one month of being on the market:
Lira the Dark - $5.71
Iza the Fanged - $4.80
Grum Flameblade - $12.86

Thoughts and Comments
I'm still happy overall with my "investment" so far in the Chaos Legion set. I don't see it yielding any sort of significant profit until the card packs sell out and, hopefully, increase several fold on the secondary market. The airdropped cards have all decreased in value since my last update, but the card packs and SPS are on the climb which is a good sign since that will be where I will see the largest "gains".
Every splinterlands post I read confuses me all over again as I’m about making an executive decision on what to invest in between packs and actual cards under a very tight budget.
