“2 RARE AND 1 LEGENDARY”

I sound more like a gamer, right? Yea, you know I am. However, my reasons for using the terms “rare” and “legendary” (levels of rarity) are quite obvious.

I have shared some tips for Newbies in different posts and I have also read some tips shared by other authors in their posts. However, having been on Hive blockchain for a while, I feel there are some tips that are actually helpful for Newbies but many realize this late, some do not see it as important and some don’t see it at all.

Well, in this post, I hope to share few of these tips that I feel are rare and necessary; legendary but underrated.

PREVIOUS TIPS SHARED

In one of the Posts I made, I emphasized the need to be Original, Creative, Engage a lot and be Consistent in the quality of our contents. I also advised that before we post in a community we should:

  • Read the Community’s Introductory Posts on Hive
  • Read the Pinned Posts in the Community (be updated)
  • Read the Community’s Rules and Regulations
  • Check out for the Community’s special tags
  • Check out other author’s posts in the Community, and
  • Engage other author’s posts in the Community

Few days ago, I also shared a post, which I wrote like a letter to a Newbie, here I added the need to:

  • Avoid Plagiarism
  • Avoid tagging people unnecessarily
  • Avoid begging for votes
  • Avoid falling for scam or giving out our private keys to unverified platforms, and
  • Be Open to growth

In today’s episode we are going to take a new dimension.

THE RARE TIPS

I believe by now you have already eaten and digested the tips above...

Hahaha bon apetite...

1. UNDERSTAND HOW EACH COMMUNITY WORKS

Did you notice that we are no longer talking about what to avoid or what not to avoid? Rather this is a quest or journey: a quest to understand how each community works (the ones you are participating in).

What does this imply?

You know before doing this you should be familiar with all 6 tips that we should follow before we post in a community.
While this journey is left for us to do individually, you may consider checking:

  • What the community is about (the niche)
  • The platforms supported by the community or best platform/frontend to use
  • The community tokens (if there are)
  • The related tokens
  • The support system

There are so much to consider, but you can start with this.

By studying a community, you will realize that, for instance, Pukumundo Community accepts only 3speak videos and not Youtube Videos. You’ll realize that it is better to post on Leofinance community from the Leofinance web page than to post using another front end (the same with Ecency, Splinterlands and Proofofbrain, among others).

You will also realize that some of these communities have their own native/community tokens, for instance: Leofinance has its own token (LEO), Splinterlands (SPT), Neoxian (NEOXAG), Ladies of Hive (LOH), Proofofbrain (POB), One-up (ONEUP), Beatzchain (BEATZ) and Reggaejham (JHAM), among others. This implies that when you post to these communities, you not only earn Hive tokens, you also earn these coins.

But wait, you must not post in these communities to earn these.

That is why you have TAGS.

With the tags, you can post a financial post on Hive Learners and still earn LEO Tokens because you used the tags. This is because when you use their tags, your post appears on their frontend/unique website (NB: wrong use of tags can lead to downvotes, so be careful!).

This brings me to the aspect of related tokens. When you make a post, first, identify the related communities (frontend) that will benefit from the post or that the content will be best suitable for. For instance, If I were to make a Post about the “SPS coin of Splinterlands”, this is the rough analysis I’ll do.

  • Splinterlands is a game
  • NFT is involved
  • Crypto is also involved

With just these details, the first thing I’ll do is to follow the rules of the community: (use splinterlands and spt as the first and second tag; if I’m participating in the weekly challenge).

#splinterlands #spt

The next thing I’ll consider doing is to identify frontends on Hive that are related to Game, NFTs and Crypto. This will lead me to make use of tags like: #leofinance #oneup #thgaming #pimp and others. I may also decide to use the tags of #proofofbrain #neoxian #vyb since they can be used for quality contents, no matter the niche.

By doing this, you will contribute to the frontend with your quality content and you will earn those tokens alongside as you earn Hive and HBD.

2. UNDERSTAND HOW CURATION WORKS

This right here, many people still don’t understand fully. Let me share an excerpt of what I wrote about curation reward in my post on: Did you know that there are more than 10 ways to Earn on Hive

Let's say we all invested in a business with different amounts: some invested with $5 and above, others with $100 and above, and few individuals with $100,000,000.

In this business, one of the benefits is that there is a share of $500 available daily where all the investors can share and benefit from. However, the rules are:

  • Rule 1: Your investment amount determines your share of the $500 (which means, someone with $5 worth of investment may get only 0.001 share, while someone who has $100,000,000 worth of this investment may get up to $100)
  • Rule 2: You cannot receive your share directly, you can only receive half of it when you give it to someone (for instance: you give the person the whole $100... but when it is time to put receive the money in the account, the money will be shared by you two: he or she takes 50% while you take the other 50%)

Okay let me break down this simple story:

The investment is the HP (Hive Power) and your amount of HP determines your voting mana. This voting mana is the share of investment meant for us, however we cannot receive it directly. We must vote others and then we can get at most, 50% of our $ votes.

VideoCapture_20220722-122757.jpg
That's why we need to accumulate more HP so that you can earn more when we vote a Content.

So, from this, you know you can vote others, right? Well, yes! But your $0.001 and my $0.003 may not contribute much as compared to a $20 vote. That’s why it is necessary that we build our HP.

Why is this necessary?

Many of us make contents and we feel it is our right to get those big votes of $20 or $200, and then when we don’t get it, we abuse the system without fully understanding how it works.

Hence, for now, I think we have passed the stage of telling ourselves to avoid vote begging, rather we are in the stage of telling ourselves to understand how curation works and see why we need to step up our game, continue giving quality contents and continue engaging.

We will all improve.

LEGENDARY TIP

Just like I said earlier, many Newbies undermine this particular tip I am going to share, they do not realize that this is a big legend on Hive.

20220801_233959_0002.png

FOCUS MORE ON GROWING YOUR HIVE POWER (HP)

Your Hive Power is your staked Hive or your Invested Hive. Just like the example I gave when I spoke about curation, it is like making an investment, the Capital is intact, and you benefit from the profit. However, for Hive, it is much more than benefitting from the profit.

Have you gotten this message before?

At the beginning stage of your journey on Hive, I am sure you got a message like this, except if you had the opportunity to have received enough HP delegation from someone or a project, or you bought Hive and powered up.

So, first and foremost, your Hive Power determines the amount of Resource Credits (RC) you have. The Resource Credit is responsible for all the interactions or transactions you make on Hive. By transactions I mean making a post, making a comment, giving a vote, transferring Hive/HBD or delegating, creating a community and much more. This implies that for you to make the smallest activity on Hive you need RC which means you need HP. This RC also depletes when we transact with them more often, and it replenishes as well: it takes 5 days to charge from 0-100%. The more your HP, the more you have enough time for your RC.

Your Hive Power also determines your voting mana: the more your Hive Power, the more voting mana you have; and the more you vote, the more you earn curation reward from your votes.

It is also important to know that you can earn interest from your Hive Power, you can delegate to others to help them grow their account and you can vote for Governance and funding for projects on Hive. However, the more your HP, the more stake you have on Hive to vote for Governance and project funding.

Well, for Newbies;

Sometimes in a bid to get quick cash, some Newbies make use of the 100% liquid method (use @reward.app). But, not only that, you realize that some of them still rely on the delegated HP given to them by their on-boarder. So, what happens if your on-boarder decides to take back his or her HP? That means you’ll begin to beg for HP or you’ll start from the beginning, when instead you should have used that period to earn some HP.

This is the advice I give those who I have brought into this lovely space.

I tell them to try as much as possible to make a 100% Hive Power Up for their posts. However, if they would also use the earnings from Hive to sustain themselves because of the harsh economy, then I tell them this:

“Let your reward plans be 50/50 (HP/HBD), then focus on your HBD for your sustenance. So that while you focus on your HBD reward for sustenance, your HP automatically builds up; while you keep struggle to make more HBD to carter for your needs, your HP keeps building and stacking up. Which implies that while your HBD will provide for your present needs, your HP will help solve your future needs."

You can follow this, if you wish!

There are so many important tips to make us enjoy and benefit more from the love and rewards to enjoy on Hive. Do well to be open minded to learn and grow. Feel free to drop your suggestions and opinion in the comment section, I’ll be waiting to hear from you.
