Full moon shining on Barcelona City
Hello amazing Hive community!
This time I am back with a post containing just 2 pictures which are the result of a long work of shooting and editing.
It was the day 5th of July 2020 that I planned to go and shoot some night time panoramas with a full moon shining on Barcelona city.
So I armed myself with my Sony a7-III camera, tripod and portable speaker to entertain myself during the work and went on a hill behind Parc Guell that I well know for its beautiful view on the city.
I always enjoy going on photographic solo missions, especially at night.
The idea was to take some photos on my tripod to be later stitched together on Kolor Autopano software.
First Panorama composition made with 2 horizontal pictures, straight out Kolor Autopano software
Moon photos are a little tricky to be taken, because if you want the landscape to be seen you will need a long exposure shot, especially if you want to keep your ISO low and have a good quality image without noise, but with these settings the moon is going to appear like a big white light in the sky without any details shown. So, what I always do in these cases, I always need to take a more zoomed and detailed moon photo to photoshop it later on my main picture.
Then, once on the field, I decided to take two panorama images, one made with two horizontal photos and the other made with 6 vertical pictures.
Each of these pictures composing the two panoramas are the result of a bracketing of 4 photos later tone mapped as HDR on Photomatix Pro.
... complicated enough? 😆
Second panorama composition made with 6 vertical images, straight out Kolor Autopano software
Once back home and working on my editing, I finally decided that I wanted to give these two panorama pictures a little more dramatic look, enlarging the moon size... just a little bit! 😅
Final work after editing
The programs I used to edit are the following:
- Photomatix Pro 5 to tone map bracketed photos;
- Kolor Autopano to stitch photos together;
- Adobe Lightroom to edit the panorams;
- Adobe Photoshop CS6 to place the detailed moon photo on the panoramas.
And that was it for today my beautiful people, I hope you enjoyed the content and let me know on the comments if you liked the fact that I wanted to be a little bit more technical on this post, describing how the magic happens in the editing process.
Then of course smash the like button and follow me if you aren't already!!!
