Week 210/Could you survive alone in the wilderness, or would you struggle (or perish), or need help?
Good evening friends, I wish you a weekend surrounded by happy and funny moments... Next, I share with you my participation to the magnificent challenge that our friend @galenkp proposes us during the weekends.
Could you survive alone in the wilderness, or would you struggle (or perish), or need help?
The truth is that I have no experience or personal preparation where I can assure that I could survive alone in the desert, I am sure that there are many adequate techniques that help people who make excursions in this kind of places, where they prepare themselves in advance in case an emergency happens. I will answer this question taking into account my logic and my intuition in case I would have this kind of experience in my life.
Being alone in the desert is a very stressful situation, in this circumstance the first thing I would do would be to put into practice and develop all the knowledge I have in relaxation and meditation techniques, in order to maintain the balance between my mind and my body trying to prevent both from collapsing. These tools would help me to stay calm, avoiding the panic symptoms that in a few seconds can put an end to your life. From calmness I would try to control my breathing and my internal temperature, to avoid hyperventilation and thus conserve my breath.
During the day I would protect myself from the sun, to avoid the strong exhaustion produced by the heat, I would try to cover my skin to avoid burns. I would walk slowly so as not to run the risk of heat stroke. I would manage water well to avoid dehydration since this would be the shortest way to die, conserving this vital liquid would extend my days of survival. I would take advantage of the night to walk when the temperature is more pleasant, I would use the moonlight and the stars as a compass and thus orient myself better. I would look for a hill to see if I can glimpse lights in the distance to indicate if the city is near. While I find my way back, finding water would be my main mission, for this I would try to dig in the sand or find some vegetation, because where there are plants there is water and this would save my life while they find me or I find my way back.
As I walk I would try to improvise by leaving signs where I am advancing to serve as an alert. I would take small bites of the perishable food I carry in my backpack, to try to manage as best as possible. At night I would light a fire to avoid hypothermia in case the temperature is extreme.
Without a doubt, if I found myself alone in the desert I would fight with all my power to survive, using the resistance of my body and my mental power, I would never give up. Faced with this experience, I would use my optimism, good humor and the good attitude that characterizes me. I am sure that these feelings act not only to improve your quality of life but many times they become a compass and its needles show you where the exit is. .
Thing about desert is that at day time if extreme (heat) but at night time, most of them became a tundra environment... Meaning temperature drops really fast and the body can't process it. Nice post!
It must be terrifying to get lost in the desert, surviving with those temperature changes must be a great odyssey! Thank you very much for your visit, I send you a big hug! @chris-chris92
Oh, no worries, love... And if, for any reason what so ever, in a situation like that, please beware of light and fire. Hahaha, lots of love for you!
