An archaeological site that is over 700 years old, Wat Umong Temple, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.

Hello everyone. This post I want to share a thai temple. This thai temple is an ancient site in Muang District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. This temple is called Wat Umong. Nowadays, the architecture inside this temple is a historical site that has not been restored to modernity, but the architecture of this temple is still a complete brick block until now.

Wat Umong is a temple built about 700 years ago. This temple was built in the reign of Phaya Mangrai around the year A D. 1296., which he was the king of the Lanna Kingdom. The Lanna Kingdom in the past, was located in the north of Thailand. Currently, the people of Chiang Mai Province Chiang Rai Province and others. Carry on the traditions and cultures of Lanna, which are the traditions and cultures of their ancestors.

The first highlight of this temple, The architecture inside the temple that I want to share first is The pagoda is about 700 years old of this temple. This pagoda is a historical site that has been restored since the past and is still intact. Me and my wife have to walk up the stairs to see and worship this pagoda.

The second highlight of this temple is the ancient architecture that looks like an ancient tunnel inside. Which the old bricks are still intact.
Inside the tunnel is a passageway to various small halls within the tunnel. Which various small halls have Buddha images for tourists to view and worship.

There are also other ruins and various new Buddha statues. The overall atmosphere inside the temple is shady and there are many big trees.

Wat Umong is located in Suthep Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District. Chiang Mai Province Thailand 50200. Open to enter the temple every day.

This is fascinating. I've been in Thailand years ago and visited a temple with a mummified monk. That was creepy and astonishing at the same time. The monks told me they still have to cut his nails from time to time. Not sure if they were joking haha.

Pretty much interesting about this cultural site. We got an ancient temple in Cambodia too.
