Weekly Battle Challenge: Snitches get Stiches... or?
Hello fellow TCG enthusiasts!
This week's battle challenge covers Shadow Snitch which is one of the new common Chaos Legions cards available to all players. If you have been around for awhile you can consider him to play similarly to how Magma Troll was used however he fits the role of off tank slightly better due to his innately higher HP.
If this is the first you are hearing of the Splinterlands 'Share Your Battle!' challenge, check out the official rules and guidelines in this post. Now lets get into this week's challenge.
Card Overview - Shadow Snith
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: COMMON
Element: DEATH
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: Reach, Affliction at 6, Dodge at 10
To be honest, I don't really find Shadow Snitch to be a great base level card. He really needs his dodge to truly server as an off-tank and even then he only gains 10 HP through 2 levels. That said, having affliction at in Gold leagues in higher does help him mitigate healing tanks which seem to have become more common.
Official Lore
Shadow Snitches are created by the conjurers of the Chaos Legion. Weaving Death magic, they breathe life into beings made completely of darkness. The purpose of the Shadow Snitches is to be deployed into lands prior to the Chaos Legion's invasion. Moving from shadow to shadow, they are listeners and watchers, feeding information back to the Chaos Legion.
But once the invasion is complete, the Shadow Snitches still serve a purpose. They can locate and follow high-value targets, reporting back on movements to Chaos Legion leadership. If needed, Shadow Snitches can also capture prisoners and bring them back for interrogation.
Devon ran down the narrow alleyway, panting and his heart thundering in his chest. Panic ran like electricity through his body, spurring him on as he splashed through mucky puddles and jumped over piles of trash.
It was just behind him. He knew. The creature. The creature of shadow. It wanted him because of what he knew. Valuable information for this person that Devon knew of only in whispers. The Voice.
He stumbled around a corner and came face-to-face with a dead end.
“No!” he gasped.
Devon spun around, eyes as round as two full moons. Had he lost his pursuer?
Suddenly two shadowy arms shot out from the dark corner behind him. One spindly hand grasped his torso, the other closed around his face to cut off his scream.
Devon was dragged back into the darkness.
It was time for an interrogation.
Given this is the first CL card in awhile we are back to having really well thought out lore for the card. Each card has its own story and you can get lost reading about them.
Context: Regular Ranked match in Bronze 3.
Ruleset as follows:
So my main has a really weak death deck and I generally don't do well when using it in Silver and Gold. As such, I figured my best chance at a win would be in Bronze league. This is also because Bronze is generally FULL of bots which spam magic comps which death tends to do decently at countering. Further, I chose a Bronze battle to remove the uncertainty related to rulesets. All fights in Bronze are generally low mana (which further hurts decks like water/life/earth) and have no rule modifiers.

Analysis:
When the board revealed itself it was at first a hard fight to call. This was because both teams had about equal damage and health. This to me generally means itll come down to getting a few lucky dodges which is exactly what happened. Further, my opponent utilized armor nulification as his summoner ability which really didn't impact me at all yet I got a -1 health reduction that hit him quite hard. This specifically meant that I could 1 shot 3 of his cards regardless of which creature hit them and 2 of the remaining three would be susceptible to suicide against my tanks thorns. My only real threat was his little sneak goblin as it had the potential to kill off my damage.
