Hello fellow Hivians!

So per one of my more recent posts I let you guys know that I've been playing a relatively new arcade style game called Vampire Survivors. Well, I managed to unlock all of the achievements and get through each of the games stages. I had just started to re-think my weapon rankings and Poncle, the developer, released a free update for the game which added a new character and 2 new items!

Given I was planning to anyways I thought I should still update my tier listing based on new findings and go through these awesome new additions. Further, if you haven't already and are interested in playing check it out on Steam for $3 or for free via browser on the official website.

New Character - Krochi Freetto

WEAPON: Cross
PERK: 1 Revival + 1 Revival at lvl 33

This guy in my opinion is a bit lackluster compared to the base characters. That said he does have a hidden buff not included in his text: (+20% movement speed). This movement speed buff is actually quite good for new players as kiting is a major part of the game before you have built up significant gold reserves.

That said, cross is a decent weapon both to start and end the game with. Revival however isn't a great perk in lieu of other options. Generally, if you need a revive it means you haven't scaled appropriately to the game and you won't be able to survive much longer meaning you'll just die again.

Right now +X projectiles is easily going to be your best option for character perk which comes with Gennaro (+1 innate) and Mortaccio (+1 every 20 lvls up to +3).

New Items

Tiragisu

ABILITY: Provides 1 revival on death per upgraded item level (Max 2)

Similar to my thoughts on Krochi above, I simply just don't find revival to be much of a benefit. I guess maybe it will save you if you do something stupid but at that point you are sacrificing another passive build item.

One more interesting change is that these revival items have also been added to the upgrade which means you can effectively buy a persistent/permanent revive using your gold. This point alone means the item is even less worth it to players that have been grinding the game for some time.

La Borra

ABILITY: Evolved Santa Water - Allows damaging zones to move with you and grow in size.

So Santa Water is an amazing weapon, easily A tier pushing towards S so you would think La Borra is an S tier as a given right? Well, yes... La Borra is amazing... However, its evolution item is the atractorb which isn't that great given you sacrifice weapon buffs for its utility. That said, if you are a player that generally likes to take the orb, sometimes its fun to vaccumm everything on the screen after all, then La Borra is a no brainer must have weapon.

Updated Weapon Tier List

So first thing to note is that I've evaluated this tiering without considering the base passive items that generally pair with them (for example Wand + Tome). This is largely because in some cases the passive item is superior while the active weapon is terrible and vice versa and I wanted to stick to weapons only here.

Notable changes aside from the obvious inclusion of La Borra include:
Upgrades - Bone, Lance, Laurel, Hellfire, Holy Wand
Downgrades - Axe, Wand, Fire Wand

For the downgrades I primarily decided they just simply aren't reliable enough early game and I generally over-valued them due to how strong their evolutions are.

The upgrades on the other hand are tied to consistency between runs and exposure to sheer power from some of the items. Hellfire in particular is actually one of the highest damage dealers in the game and that alone moved it up although its lack of consistency keeps it in A instead of moving into S. Bone on the other hand I did move up a rank. It is still more or less a weaker Runetracer however you can sort of treat it the same as you do a knife in that these two weapons are starters for the 2 characters with +projectile buffs which as previously mentioned are the strongest.

Lance and Laurel are included in the upgrade list for the sole reason that both items are a hard requirement to survive longer than 2-3 seconds past the 30 minute mark. As such, any build without them will more or less top out around there.
