A day in the life of A Filipino Family Living in the UAE #8: The DUBAI Expo 2020!

Hi Hivers! How's everyone?! I hope everyone is doing fine. This is a continuation of the memories when I have stopped a few months ago.

I know it's kinda late and maybe some might already share but I would like to write about our Dubai Expo 2020 experience.

The Dubai Expo 2020 was originally planned to opened last october 2020. It has been talked of the town here since 2018 but because of the unexpected pandemic that had happened things have moved into different direction. Fast forward, last October 2021, the Dubai has finally opened to the world the Dubai Expo. It will run a good 6 months covering from Oct 2021-March 2022.

At first, we(meaning me and my husband) are still kinda hesitant to come thinking there might be a lot of people (residents and tourist) that might visit the place. Ofcourse! covid is still around the corner that's why we have decided to see and look for the news and guidelines first. Then the restrictions were lifted.

We, first went last last february. My husband took a day off same with my day off so it was a good day to spend with the family. I have been hearing nice stories from my colleagues that's why I have decided to give it a go. We went there by our car but did you know that the government even offer to provide free shuttle from Abu Dhabi to Dubai if you don't have private vehicles. And by the way, did I also mentioned that I have free tickets since I am working in the healthcare sector?! The government, was very nice to appreciate the frontliners and has given us some perks. And I am very grateful for it save us some money and gave us nice experience.

Upon arrival, we were not disappointed! The place is so nice and so huge that you need a long hours of walking or even a day to explore all of it. Even though we were there for a short time we were still able manage to visit some of the pavillions.

This is a very nice way to learn about different countries culture and tradition. There are 192 countries participate in this event. There are those big pavillions, but ofcourse the line will tale your probably long hours of waiting too and then there are also small pavillions that you can just quickly drop by. It was a weekend so the queues were long.

My children favorite is the upside waterfall, I didn't know that they were planning to go swimming that day. 🤣😂 We were not ready that we have to buy a short from the souvenir shop since they soaked up.

It was a nice and short day of trip that it felt I wanted to go back since I was not able to explore. But it was really fun experience that I went again with my kids (this is around March on a weekday, without my husband since he is at work, hahahaha!)

Now, the Dubai Expo is closed; but what I read in the news is that they will keep some of the pavillions (like the UAE pavillion and the attraction like the waterfall) and it will become a small city in the future. The next Expo will be on Japan 2025, and I hope to visit it too.

See you next time!
