Any place can be a destination - Visiting a part of my city (Caracas)

Two weeks ago I had to do some shopping, so I went to a part of my city called Chacao. Chacao is a municipality, but I only visited some areas which are the commercial ones, and there are many stores and malls. Although there are also many residential buildings.

Hace dos semanas tuve que hacer algunas compras, así que fui a una parte de mi ciudad que se llama Chacao. Chacao es un municipio, pero solo visité algunas zonas que son las comerciales, y hay muchas tiendas y malls. Aunque también hay muchos edificios residenciales.

It had been a while since I was walking these streets so I took photos while walking. This place is unique because although it has been modernized and is one of the most well-cared and safest areas of the city, it is also characterized by the number of old buildings and shops that offer very classic services.

Había pasado un tiempo desde que caminaba por estas calles, así que tomé fotos mientras caminaba. Este lugar es único porque aunque ha sido modernizado y es una de las zonas más cuidadas y seguras de la ciudad, también se caracteriza por la cantidad de edificios antiguos y comercios que ofrecen servicios muy clásicos.

También hay muchos establecimientos familiares, en los que los propietarios son quienes dirigen su negocio y tratan con los clientes. Y algunos de ellos son personas mayores.

There are also many family establishments, in which the owners are the ones who run their business and deal with customers. And some of them are older people.

For example, there are still a couple of stores dedicated to the repair of footwear or clothing such as belts or bags. These types of stores are no longer common in modern commerce, so you in case you need those services you can only count on little places like this.

Por ejemplo, todavía hay un par de tiendas dedicadas a la reparación de calzado o ropa como cinturones o bolsos. Este tipo de tiendas ya no son comunes en el comercio moderno, por lo que en caso de que necesites esos servicios solo puedes contar con pequeños lugares como este.

The day was quite cool, which was good, as it is very hot sometimes. So walking those streets was pretty nice. Some people were shopping, others walking their dogs... the atmosphere was calm. The truth is that the current situation in the country is not the best, but at least it´s good to see that everyone continues to do what they can.

El día estaba bastante fresco, lo cual fue bueno, ya que a veces hace mucho calor. Así que caminar por esas calles fue muy agradable. Algunas personas iban de compras, otras paseaban a sus perros... el ambiente era tranquilo. La verdad es que la situación actual del país no es la mejor, pero al menos es bueno ver que todos siguen haciendo lo que pueden.

Some houses already had some Christmas decorations. // Algunas casas ya tenían adornos navideños.

I found the shape of this building very peculiar. // Encontré la forma de este edificio muy peculiar.

There´s something about this old sidewalks... // Hay algo especial en estas aceras viejas...

This was probably a very nice entrance when it was built, but it still seems quite special to me despite its poor appearance.

Esta fue probablemente una entrada muy bonita cuando se construyó, pero todavía me parece bastante especial a pesar de su mala apariencia.

This is a nursery, the red plants you see there are called Christmas plants, and they usually bloom and sold this season. They can be quite expensive, so they sell mostly small ones, but there are also some big ones.

Este es un vivero, las plantas rojas que ven allí se llaman plantas navideñas, y generalmente florecen y se venden esta temporada. Pueden ser bastante caras, por lo que venden principalmente pequeñas, pero también hay algunas grandes.

The sky was a bit cloudy but it only rained after 4pm. // El cielo estaba un poco nublado, pero solo llovió después de las 4 de la tarde.

In this store they had some Alien and Predator figures made with metal pieces. Although it was a lamp store, they sold all kinds of things, I'm not sure if these figures are for sale, but they´re pretty cool. And I can´t stop imagining an Alien playing the bongos, haha, or selling you a tv lol. The bongos were on sale btw.

En esta tienda tenían unas figuras de Alien y Depredador hechas con piezas de metal. Aunque era una tienda de lámparas, vendían todo tipo de cosas, no sé si estas figuras están a la venta, pero son bastante cool. Y no puedo dejar de imaginarme a un Alien tocando los bongos, jaja, o vendiéndote un tv jaja. Lo tambores estaban en oferta, por cierto.

I noticed that each department where there are plants speaks a little about who lives there, some were very well cared for and others quite neglected... Perhaps it could be a reflection of the character of who lives there. But it's just something I thought though lol.

On the left you’ll see a corporate building, and the one on the right is a vertical parking lot, those kind of parking lots has always seemed to me a pretty cool invention.

A la izquierda verán un edificio corporativo, y el de la derecha es un estacionamiento vertical, ese tipo de estacionamientos siempre me han parecido un invento muy genial.

In the background you can see the Avila mountain, which surrounds almost the entire city. I also like that there are many trees, so despite everything this is a very "green" city, which is a good thing.

Al fondo se puede ver la montaña Ávila, que rodea casi toda la ciudad. También me gusta que hay muchos árboles, así que a pesar de todo es una ciudad muy "verde", lo cual es bueno.

There´s always a cat somewhere, or two. :) These live in the areas of a residential building, so they are well cared. The yellow one is a bit old, but he´s okay.

Siempre hay un gato en alguna parte, o dos. :) Estos viven en las áreas de un edificio residencial, por lo que están bien cuidados. El amarillo es un poco viejo, pero está bien.

That afternoon, I also stopped by this store that had these cool transformers-inspired figures. And I really wish I had one of those in my room haha.

Esa tarde, también pasé por esta tienda que tenía estas geniales figuras inspiradas Transformers. Y realmente quisiera tener uno de esas en mi cuarto jaja.

I´ve spent a lot of time at home, so usually when I go out I walk a lot, and sometimes I discover things that I hadn´t seen before, or I see differently the places that I have always visited. If you find yourself in a similar situation, you can do the same and you may be surprised.

He pasado mucho tiempo en casa, así que normalmente cuando salgo camino mucho, y a veces descubro cosas que no había visto antes, o veo de otra manera los lugares que siempre he visitado. Si se encuentran en una situación similar, pueden hacer lo mismo y es posible que se sorprendan.
