Let's make Som tam! (Papaya Salad)
Let's make som tam! (Papaya Salad)
Hello everyone. ❤️
When I have free time, I often spend it cooking meals at home. For me, cooking is another form of happiness, as it allows me to create flavors I love while ensuring the food is clean and safe.
Today, I decided to make "Som Tum" because it’s been a long time since I last made this dish. Getting back to making one of my favorite dishes brings me both joy and relaxation. 🍽️✨
After finishing my classes, I decided to go to the market to buy ingredients for making som tam. The market I visited had a wide variety of fresh vegetables to choose from, which made me feel fortunate that my place is not far from the market. It’s so convenient to buy fresh vegetables without needing to stock up. 🥬✨
The main ingredients I picked up include green papaya, chili, tomatoes, long beans, and other vegetables I like, to make sure today's som tum is perfectly suited to my taste. Hehe 🥗✨
- Let's start making som tam! (Papaya Salad)! 👇
🍋 Ingredients 🍋
- Papaya – 2 cups
- Seasoning powder – 1 teaspoon
- Fish sauce – 2 tablespoons
- Long beans – ½ cup
- Fresh lime – ½ piece
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Fresh chili – 6 pieces (adjust the amount for less spiciness if preferred)
- Tomatoes – as desired
- Sugar – 1 teaspoon
- Fermented fish sauce (pla ra) – 2 tablespoons
Cooking Steps
Step 1: Start by cleaning the vegetables I bought thoroughly.
Step 2: After cleaning the vegetables, I will chop them into the desired size and shape as shown in the picture above.
Step 3: I will crush the garlic, chili, sugar, and seasoning powder together until well combined.
Step 4: Add the long beans into the mortar and pound them roughly.
Step 5: Add the tomatoes, then season with fish sauce, fermented fish sauce, and lime. Mix everything well.
Step 6: Add your favorite vegetables and shredded papaya, then pound everything together with the seasoning mixture until well combined. This completes the preparation of the Som Tum (Papaya Salad).
And this is my dinner menu after finishing my studies. I added extra flavor by buying some grilled chicken to enjoy with the som tam. I can guarantee that pairing grilled chicken with som tam will make this meal even more delicious! 😊
Thank you for always following and supporting me. ❤️

Thats a relly good tutorial and the pictures are so good. I just wonder where the little crabs are, though?
Happy Sunday :-)
Haha, thank you for the compliment! But honestly, I have to say I’m not a big fan of having crab in my papaya salad. 😊
