Rough Times? It's surely not some evil forces milking me.

This day's experience and the wild adventure it came with gave me flashes of the tedious lifestyle that I usually have to adopt in my attempt to build my finances while maintaining my work-life balance. I've seen so much about this world to know that a man's life usually starts to crumble the moment his finances go through a recurring dip.

Mine haven't been looking good for the most part of the year and I've never raised too many complaints about that. It's not the world turning its back on me or some evil forces milking me. Instead, life was hitting me hard and I knew best to step up, review the situation I'm in, and identify how to create a lasting solution to my problem.

I'm not faultless in the things I'm going through. I know part of it could be my fault and to set things right, I always do more than my fair share and break myself in half. I was doing one of my critical research last night when I came across an opportunity that I didn't want to miss. I saw the official ad for that by 1am, the exact moment I jumped on my bed to bid farewell to an already stressful Thursday.

Something about the ad I saw kept bugging me. So, I did what every reasonable person in my shoe would do. I started doing more research to get enough facts before deciding to act on it or ignore it. After digging into several resources, it dawned on me that the ad is something I need to follow up on. Maybe that's the optimistic me speaking. Haha.

I ended up using the early hours of this Friday to prepare the documents required and forward an application to the right source. I wrapped everything up by 6am and said HI to my lady before forcing myself to get some rest. The rest lasted for 3 hours before I woke up to get into today's adventure properly.

Everything I did at that time reminded me of when I first got my BSc certificate. The buzz then was "What's next after school" and that question sent chills down our spine. I remember creating so many profiles on job sites and applying for jobs that were way too ridiculous. At that point, I didn't have the luxury to see any job as a job that was beneath me. I was ready to just do anything if there was a chance of getting paid.

I've long outgrown the me that was ready to settle for just anything. The incident that happened in the early hours of this day and how I approached the whole application process is a lot different. Even the role that caught my attention and the organization itself is the sort I saw as untouchable back in the day. Now, I feel like I can just walk in and land the deal.

Well, that's exactly how my Friday started.

When I woke up, I stepped out with my younger sister for our hair care. She went to a hairstylist opposite my apartment for some braiding while I went to see my barber for a haircut. We went shopping afterward and spent some premium Naira. Haha.

We bought half a carton of noodles, a huge dishwashing soap, conditioner for hair treatment, groundnut Oil, a strawberry drink, and a few other things. Today's shopping expenses cost almost 20k. I will be buying rice tomorrow. Not a bag though.

This Friday has been an adventure. Now, I pray my application gets received nicely by the Cali-based tech company.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Sometimes life can really be tough that we wonder what is this thing we are doing with life

True. Life happens like that and it's now a struggle to get through life unscathed.

I so much understand that point of settling for anything just to get paid. I was in that shoe about 8 years ago when I just needed to get a work and not necessarily a job, hehe to do.
Well now, like has changed and boys are gradually becoming me
All thanks to God

All thanks to God ooo. Even when we are still not as successful as we want to be, I'm glad we all can be glad about the level of success we've experienced over the last couple of years. It's fairly inspiring.

I think some of us have come to realize that settling for less is no longer acceptable. I wish you all the best in your new venture, and I hope that things turn out in your favor.

That's very true. It gets to a stage in life when we have to realize that settling for less isn't an ideal approach to take towards surviving and subsequently thriving financially.

It's all depends on the situation. Sometimes job that seem to be not-for-me at all can push us in right direction.

When I first came to UK I took first job that I could find, just so I wouldn't eat up all my savings. It was sadly mind - numbing job that required looooong commuting. It was soul- crashing, not gonna lie.

But! I met there a guy who pretty quick become my friend. And he was on life cross roads too. We both encourage each other to find better job. We would send to each other job-adverts if we came across something for other party.

Pretty shortly we started to compete with each other jokingly at first:
-So how many CV's you sent yesterday? I managed 10!
-You are such a loser! That's nothing! I sent over 15!

But we become actually active in that regard. With this positive mindset I've found job in less than 2 months, and my friend 2 weeks later!

So yeah... 'not-so-great-job' helped me find 'real job' and! very good friend.

I wish you perseverance in pursuit of the goal @kenechukwu97!

That's a very inspiring experience and I'm grateful you shared this in here. I also had to apply for those not-for-me jobs and it's not easy to do that in a place like Nigeria. I always tell myself that I hope to get opportunities in more decent countries, but previous attempts didn't generate positive feedback.

Being in the labour market isn't an easy thing. Life itself isn't easy too. I hope to get an offer in a working environment where I will get the due return for my work. That will make it easier to build my future.

When you are ambitious, life kicks your butt a lot more often than those who don't take on challenges. Once you accept this fact - life will be a little less frustrating. If everything is going smoothly - you are going in the wrong direction:)

Warm regards!
