WednesdayWalk Around My Neighbourhood
(Edited)
I'm really fortunate to live in an area with ample parkland and trails.
Before we head out, this is the beautiful sugar maple that reflects its golden light into my bedroom at this time of year.
Just watch your step. When the tree leaves start to decompose, things can get slippery.
A neighbour's red maple. You might figure out why it has that name!
There are 5 types of maples native to Ontario.
I walked around the corner and saw a new sign. This neighbourhood is over 30 years old and it just showed up. Our tax dollars at work.
There is a municipal election here next Monday.
When the sun shines, the colours in the local bush (forest) are brilliant but the weather can't decide what it's doing today, and it's 4 C (39.2°F). I took the path to the left that leads into the bush.
There was something at the base of the tree ahead.
It's some kind of big fungi.
Interesting structure.
The bush isn't big, maybe 1 hectare (2.47 acres) max. About 4 paths meet in the middle.
I make a right turn and head back out.
Across the street, the bright red trees are Sumacs and there is a beautiful blue sky in the direction I'm not heading. lol
I make a left turn out of the bush past the small playground.
I started down this path and then cut across the soccer field.
This is one of the places to go if you want to see dogs.
I was distracted by poles on the smaller field to the right.
It was after I left it that I figured out they might have reseeded the field earlier in the year.
I have never been on this path so I decided to see where it went.
Just an access path to the park. I walked to the end. Took a photo and walked back.
Everything looks so scenic at this time of year.
Retracing my steps and then a right turn.
There is a path up the hill through the trees.
Here is the view. And this is a view from the top.
Look at all of those leaves. In parts of Ottawa, there are little trucks that vacuum up the leaves in the parks.
So I went through the bush, skirted the soccer field, climbed the hill back to the main path, and now I'm heading back towards the bush.
It's nice to see the blue sky return but another rain cloud had sneaked up behind me. Crazy weather today.
I took shelter briefly then decided to make a run for it, but I shuffled my feet and sent leaves flying because that's what you do with big piles of maple leaves.
Out of the bush.
A little sumac.
When the city puts the yellow sticks on the hydrants, you know winter is on its way.
Thank you for joining me on my walk today and thank you @tattoodjay for sponsoring the #WednesdayWalk.
