Snowy Day
The snow started falling early this morning. We have had only one light snowfall this winter but we are expecting 16 cm (6.3") over 2 days. By the time I was awake, there was already an army of snow removal equipment hard at work. Above, a city plow.
In my backyard, the patio table serves as my snow indicator.
It's easy to appreciate the beauty when it's still early in the winter and I went out to take some photos.
I call them the big "romantic" flakes, the big snowflakes that fall when it's damp out and not too cold. They turn the trees into a winter wonderland. (Someone should write a song about that.)
So pretty, unless it builds up and threatens to break the branches but I doubt that's a problem today.
It's interesting to see how the snow accumulates on various things. And I decided to go for a walk.
Somewhere between putting my keys in my pocket, watching the snowplow, deciding whether to have my glasses on or off, and dangling my camera...
Swoosh! Bang!
I wiped out in the driveway. There was ice hiding under that snow. I looked around before getting up and nobody had witnessed it. We call that a "butt plant" after the pattern that's created when you fall backwards into deep snow.
A beautiful snow-filled tree.
Remind me to get the mail on my way back. There isn't much snow yet but by mid-winter the ridge along the side of the road can become significant.
The snow is heavy and wet and I don't envy anyone shovelling today. You can see them to the right over the spruce tree. The best use for this snow is making snowmen.
This time of the year, the light is grey and the photos are almost monochrome.
That wet snow also makes the roads slippery.
I think I mention this every winter. The yellow stick is so the fire department can find the hydrants when the snow gets deeper.
It's corny but I find myself humming "Good King Wenceslas" when I'm following footprints in the snow.
There is some snow falling gently and I don't want my camera to get wet so I'm not going very far.
And it's time to turn around.
Back in my neighbourhood and there's another neighbour hard at it.
And after you finish the driveway, the plow might come along and block the end again.
I picked up my mail and before I could get to my driveway, it happened again...
Down I went!
But more gracefully this time. Nice! Matching bruises. lol
Back inside and of course my glasses fogged up.

I also went down this afternoon, but not because of ice. My outside shoes tread is not all it once was, and if there's a slight incline... It's very slushy and slidey here right now... No bruises, it was an ungraceful slow descent... The rise took a good deal longer... :))
Oh, we have the slush here too. I'm pretty sure I got marks for artistic impression on the second one.
LOL!
Very beautiful photos!
It's great until you have to shovel it.
That's for sure! 😊
Summer here in Melbourne - not hot yet, butcertainly warmer than Canada - nice shots
Post lots of photos because in the middle of winter I'm going to need them. lol
Wow, I hope one day I can experience seeing snow in real life. There is no snow here in the Philippines, but the photos are beautiful anyway. Thanks friend.
All winter long I will sit here and look at photos from your beautiful country.
Makes me shiver. Hope you are okay after those butt plants.
All I have is one bruised knee, so far. We got more snow today so I saw the same show of plows zipping around.
I could hardly see anything in this white surrounding! Very strange feeling without colours!
You need to use ski for your walk!
When there is a little more snow, I will get my skis out.
Oh! You’ll be skiing! How nice!

It was yesterday when I had a conversation on this topic. For example: I can appreciate the wonderful winter fairy tale and I can enjoy the heavy snowfall and cold temperatures, but only if I sit in the warmth and watch all this through the window of a cozy house. 😎😃 I'm glad for you that you still want to go out, even walk around in this environment.
Oh, no. In winter, I'm more of an indoor person but I still need fresh air and exercise.
Aargh! Lovely from a distance and inside a home
Tell me about it. I'm heading out to clear the walk now. :-)
My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services but I may have to increase the 0.8% fee to 2.0% if I continue to be unfunded.
Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #244 or consider unvoting the HBD stabilizer explained below.
For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I will also redraft this proposal with more details (coming soon). I'm also looking for other funding sources.
Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner
If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
