Would you have guessed that this is about Palia again?
I've now completed all the available "main" quests in this beta. Culminated with a lovely "welcome home" celebration! xD
There are still heaps of little quests and villager quests to do, but until another update, I consider myself all caught up story-wise.
What's this? What is my character wearing? 😮
Yeah... I bought some more Palia coins. I've now paid for my free-to-play game. xD I've spent 150 hours in it now though, so a mere $30 is worth it to have a cute little pet following me, a glider that produces fireworks as I fly around, shiny golden ethereal tools, and another nice outfit to wear.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. My past Palia posts have been written as I was doing things; this one — mostly thanks to Steam's unfortunate update that ruins my ability to see my screenshots in a more user-friendlier manner — will be a bit more all-over-the-place.
Let's start with the gaming tables in the blackmarket Underground of Palia!
I wrongly assumed they were poker tables. They're actually "Hotpot" tables. Four players for each soup table, making the best soup they can.
It's mostly a matching game. There are a bunch of different ingredients on cards, in different colour categories, and you have to match three different types.
In my screenshot above I have three red cards with steaks, two yellow cards with carrots, and three orange cards with cauliflower. All I need is another yellow carrot to win.
It's simple, addictive, and you can only play it during the in-game hours of 6pm-to-3am. The tables are often full, there are usually a couple of people who miss out, and as soon as the game ends you need to spam your "enter the game!" key or someone will steal your spot at the table. XD
If you win a game, you get 2 special coins... if you lose, you still get 1 coin. And those coins are spent at a wheel of fortune on the other side of the Underground!
For the most part this is rather orderly. People stand in a line and wait their turn to spin the wheel with the coins they've won. The wheel awards ingredients, gold, fireworks, furniture, and plushies.
So far I've gotten no furniture and no plushies, which are the best rewards (in my opinion) as they're decorations for my house. Alas. I am unlucky. I must keep playing Hotpot!!
Speaking of my house and decorations and whatnot, this is what I've done with my house so far.
I'm in the middle of building a little courtyard, and then I'm going to build another courtyard on the other side because I like my designs to be symmetrical in nature.
There is an option to get a two-storey house... but I'm not sure I want that.
I've popped all my storage chests (except for one, which stays near my crafting area) into one of my smaller rooms. Eventually this room is going to be decorated like a pirate's den! Treasure chests, golden coin piles, gemstones everywhere, it shall be a most glorious room!
Nothing else is really decorated yet. I'm getting all the furniture crafting recipes and slowly learning them. Which involves crafting other recipes to be "inspired" to learn something else. SO I'm going through a lottttt of resources. 😅 I need to gather the resources, use the resources, then gather more resources!
Good thing I'm the Resource Goblin.
This is what the outside of my house looks like at the moment.
I've got a nice little path from gate to doorway, lit up by a few garden lights. Gardenias planted by some windows. I'm trying to work out what type of garden would look nice in the empty spots... at the moment I'm thinking a few small trees, spaced evenly. But we'll see. I actually have to grow those, and that'll take a while.
My character's romantic entanglement has progressed a little further.
In this game, when you get to a certain point in a relationship with someone, they give you a pin to wear that basically proclaims you and that character are in a relationship.
Once I equipped it, a few of the other NPCs actually acknowledged it!! Which is very nice. Since in a lot of these games, no one seems aware of these things. Like, in Stardew Valley for example, I could be dating Sam and his mum and brother don't even say anything about it? None of the other bachelors are disappointed by it and everyone treats you like you're still single?
So far in Palia I'm impressed that there is dialogue for the NPCs to react to your romance. However, I'm miffed that the important people to the character haven't said anything.
Reth has a sister, Tish, and his boss, Ashura, and the Underground boss, Zeki... Tish has said nothing. Ashura has said nothing. But Zeki has at least. His commentary is basically, "Huh. Funny that Reth gave you that pin. He shouldn't be starting a life with anyone when technically his life belongs to the Cartel."
But yeah, annoyed that his sister hasn't commented on it.
Speaking of his sister. I decided to ask Tish to be my character's "Shepp" which is basically a mentor in Palian society. I figured it would be nice to have her as my mentor-person and her brother as my romantic choice. Haha.
Anyway, remember to stay hydrated! 😁
I have resources to grind, furniture to learn, hotpots to cook, and a future house to eventually decorate! 😂 Eventually. I get distracted easily.
Until next time! 😊✨🍄
This video game has something special, it is a colorful and entertaining world, to tell the truth I had never seen it before, it seems to me that if I start playing I would become a complete ludopath playing in those casinos while I make the best soup hahaha, I think it is a term that I had never heard in any other game.
But I see those rewards sure do help a ton in building that house though, I see you have some extensive plans, I look forward to seeing more of your progress.
It's very colourful!! 😊 Not really any gambling though, haha. Just a little card game on top of a soup pot. 😅 Everybody wins! Palia is only in beta, so part of me hopes they'll come up with more games down in the Underground. It would be a good area for a whole casino!
After playing the hotpot cards today, I now have a couple of plushies for my house! No extra furniture yet though. Maybe luck will visit me next time. 😅
Congratulations @kaelci!
You raised your level and are now a Minnow!

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋
We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.
For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
