Starbound - the new hardcore survival adventure, pt 5

In my last Starbound post, Autumnia went hunting for a new planet to call "home" and, after searching for quite a while, found it at last! With a planet decided upon, The Great Base was at last under construction.

Now we're off on several adventures to find furniture for The Great Base.

I'm currently on the lookout for Glitch and Big Ape villages, for medieval and blacksmithery items and retro 70's items respectively. xD Instead, on the first planet I landed on I found an Avian village!

They have a lot of nice looking tapestries and things, which I plan on taking for my own purposes. Of course though, I can't just run around stealing everything. I need to be careful or I'll make all the soldiers protecting the village mad.

I need to wait until there are no people around, then yoink while they're not watching. xD Like a true thief. Unfortunately they just never left so I only managed to grab a few tapestries.

Next I went to a snowy planet. A snowy planet is considered Tier 3 and "Risky", which also means it has the next tier of metal on it required for my armour progression! So I thought I'd "kill two birds with one stone" and investigate the snowy planet for villages, and also mine for Titanium ore.

I found a little modern research facility straight away and proceeded to hoover up all their items. Turns out the only people who get irate with you for theft are those in proper villages. So that's good to know.

And then I found it. Also on the snowy planet but in a different biome, I found a Glitch castle!!! This was perfect. I started grabbing a bunch of stuff when no one was looking, but then...

...this random fell in love with Autumnia and started following her around all over the place. He just wouldn't leave! Finally she hid in the dungeon for a while and he just wandered off.

After roaming around the castle and looting all the chests — because while the NPCs care if you steal their furniture they don't care if you loot what's in the chests xD — I started yoinking some more things.

I was also pleased to find a new sword and a new grenade launcher while rummaging around! They're only common quality so will hopefully find better, but they're better than what I had.

After acquiring a bunch of things, I zoomed home and started placing those things.

I think I'd like one more little barrel to go beside the big barrel in my blacksmithery, and I'm going to need a lot more stuff for my dungeon, but it's getting there!

The hunt continues!

I went back to the snowy planet and searched all through the Glitch castle for a small barrel. They didn't have any. Boo. I'd have to find another elsewhere, or make it myself, or buy it. We'll see.

Since it was night, I decided now was a good time to go mining for Titanium ore! A much needed component for my progression.

Before finding any titanium ore though, I found a treasure chest with an "Alien Worm Gun" inside, a unique item! Using it looked really weird. As though I were a tentacle monster. Good thing Starbound isn't hentai, hurr hurr.

I used it against a few enemies and it was amusing, but definitely not strong enough, especially now enemies are getting a bit more hurty.

At last I found my first titanium ore, not that it was much. But at least it was definitely on this planet xD I continued my search!

I ended up finding a few interesting weapons down there, including my first magical staff! I could make an energy field with it which depletes the energy of enemies. I think that would've been better if it gave me more energy. Also found a sniper rifle which very quickly replaced my grenade launcher!

Then I found this pet collar, which makes it so your pets explode when defeated. I hadn't bothered capturing any creatures yet to use as pets... and there was a land-shark nearby... so I caught him! And gave him the collar.

Let's see how he does. xD

Turns out he charged at an enemy, died and exploded in one hit, and it was so quick I couldn't even get a screenshot of it. I guess this is why people do videos instead. 😝

I soon had over 150 titanium ore which I thought should be plenty enough for the time being, hopefully, and went back to the surface to complete my exploration. I don't know if this is a small planet or a large one, and large ones can have 3 or 4 villages on them!

I didn't find any more villages, but I did find a man and his shack... and inside some crates in his shack were diamonds!

Apparently one of the penguins on the space station deals with diamonds, so I quickly stashed them to see what he's got. (Turns out he trades them for doubloons, and only after I defeat another boss. Not yet, thanks!)

Before I left the planet though, I found another biome! A glowy biome!

There were blue glow-rocks, yellow glow-rocks, creatures that vomited glowing lights, and these glowing plants that gave me glow-fibres. I grabbed all I could, naturally. 😁

With that planet out of the way, I returned home to smelt my newfound Titanium and see what I could do with it!

After smelting, I only had 79 which really isn't much when it comes to crafting. I'd have to look for more soon. But in the meantime, I upgraded my furnace and my loom — the other workbenches require the next ore, Durasteel — and realised that I needed canvas and silk to make my next lot of armour.

Whilst I had established a base and started furnishing it, I hadn't established the most important part of that base: a farm! So I set up a bunch of moth traps for silk.

Getting the rest of the farm sorted is next on my agenda. 🙂

Until next time! 😄

Honestly, this game reminds me a lot of terraria, but in this case is more extensive haha, I really liked the post and now I want to try the game and see how it goes.

I liked the part of the castle and that you could steal everything from the chests and boxes, but you could not take the furniture 🤣.

I didn't know the game and thanks for bringing it.
Greetings.

You can take the furniture! Just need to be sneaky about it so the villagers don't get cranky with you. xD I mean, I could just go and buy the furniture... but this is easier. 🤣

If you do get the game, I hope you like it! 😊

Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that this game is very similar to Terraria xd, it's almost as it is in all the style and graphics, with the exception of skins and weapons, crafting has to be similar too haha, Terraria in space adventure mode?😂

When I first got it, I thought of it as Terraria In Space too, but as you play it and get deeper into it, it's so much more than Terraria. xD

Terraria but with a space ship you can upgrade, crew to recruit, enemy spaceships to attack, meet many aliens, do a hundred quests for the aliens, convince them to move to your town that you're creating, find hidden challenge rooms underground, enter ancient gateways, and a main story where you must save the galaxy.

It is seen that you are taking the progress very calmly! Whenever I think of Starbound I remember when I played Borderlands, the game wouldn't let me get attached to anything, because a little later it wasn't that useful to me. I think it's important to know how to enjoy the game. You prove it in every post!

It's true, upgrades come very quickly and having new gear replace your old stuff happens very quickly! I am zooming through the armour upgrades, but weapons take a little longer because I'm trying to find those instead of make them. 😅

I'm trying to be slow and methodical in this playthrough so I don't die and lose everything, haha! 😆 But sometimes it's good to just slow down and have a look around regardless. 🙂

It's a pretty fun game 🙂 if you like sandboxes and inventing your own style as you play anyway! 😁
