Path of Exile — Settlers of Kalguur — a new league begins!
A new Path of Exile league has fallen upon us! One of which I find very interesting because they're finally bringing a very common currency to this game... gold. In a game with a hundred different currencies for various things, they've finally decided to bring gollldddddd into the fray.
ALSO!
An in-game marketplace where you can exchange currencies for other currencies with your fellow players. No more messaging twenty thousand people for a single divine orb before one person finally gets back to you.
Now, if they could bring the entirety of trading into the game, that would be fantastic. But, baby steps? Baby steps! Very grateful baby steps.
After perusing some of the ability changes and new skills and whatnot for this league, I decided that I'd like to roll a Templar. I'm going to max out my blocking and get myself a Divine Retribution gem and unleash chaos upon the mad mobs of Waeclast. I'm also thinking of pairing it with Lightning Strike of Arcing... but... we'll see how it goes.
I haven't looked at other people's builds yet. I just know that I'll be levelling with Storm Brand and then transforming my weirdy beardy man into Thor himself! Maybe with the Mjolnir weapon too??? THOR! We'll see how things pan out. Because.. well.. I really do like Storm Brand. I might just make this guy into my farming character before trying out the new build idea.
Now, honestly: I didn't really read about this league or watch the videos, so I had no idea that a small city builder thing was the mechanic for this league! Apparently we're building up Kingsmarch, which is a city that'll be in Path of Exile 2. Which I think is pretty cool! Building up the city that'll be in the next game.
We get to upgrade various facilities, hire specialists to run those facilities, and the gold that we find whilst roaming around killing things is used to pay the men's wages and to further upgrade things.
Out in the wild you'll come across various ore that you need to rid of monsters, making it safe for the miners to come and take it. Even if you don't have any miners, it gets marked so that then men can come get to it later.
And back in Kingsmarch, there's the runesmith which is an addition to crafting for this league.
I'm super interested in grabbing this trigger that summons lightning bolts whenever I perform a critical strike — this Storm Brand build thrives on critical strikes! So that'll be cool, I reckon. Just need to find more runes so I can grab it.
Presumably there'll be better ones too, as I further upgrade the runesmith!
So, I made my Templar an Inquisitor, to further enhance his epic lightning zaps, and continued through the campaign... smiting foes left and right to steal their gold and further upgrade my burgeoning village.
Because I have no life, after a solid 10 hours of playtime I've got my village running nicely. I have several miners for each type of ore I've come across so far. I've got one smelter. A farmer for each of my three different crops. And three men on my boat taking deliveries across the seas.
Looking forward to getting another boat so I can send off a couple. The rewards upon their return are runes, currencies, gear including unique items... I've sold a couple of uniques I've picked up this way and currently have a massive 4 chaos orbs to my name! 😁
As of posting this, I am sitting in Act 8 at level 63... slightly over-leveled, but not by choice. It just happened. xD
I should hit the Atlas maps tomorrow and get started on currency hoarding. Then I can make plans for my future Divine Retribution stuff!
Until next time! 😄🎮⚔️
You wrote about exchanging currencies is this a play2earn game? Would love to give this a try if it's on mobile though
It's not play to earn, though that would be really cool if it was... it's just a free-to-play game that has lots of different things in it. :) And isn't on mobile.
Ohh that's too bad it's not on mobile it seems really fun to play
10 hours of play time, that's pretty much almost half of the day this game must really be interesting for an addiction like that.
Haha, hardly an addiction. It's a fixation. It's the weekend, the new league has started, and I've got nothing else to do... so... I'm enjoying my time with friends as we all play together.
Ohh I see must be lots of fun
