🌞 [Let's Play] My Time at Sandrock 🌡

The next instalment in the My Time series has launched on Kickstarter β€” My Time at Evershine β€” and after backing that I found myself wanting to jump back into My Time at Sandrock.

I never actually finished it the last time I played! I played it for over 150 hours, I followed the storyline, I discovered several big reveals! But then... I guess I was irritated my character married someone, not knowing Logan was marriable, and stopped playing. πŸ˜…

So. I'ma play it again! From the start! This time sharing my journey with all of youuuuuu!

Meet Lily, named after the protagonist of a novel I'm currently writing, and she's going to be the best Builder Sandrock has ever seen! And will marry Logan. Haha.

I also bought the DLC that adds a kind of monster-catching Pokemon type thing into the game, so that's going to be interesting too! 😁 Whee!

There stands Logan, future husband of Lily, "outlaw" of the region.

He watches as the train heads into town, unaware that his future wife is onboard. 😝

And so, Lily has arrived in Sandrock. She's been given a little workshop which will one day be the greatest manor in all the region.

One day.

For now, tis but a shack, a roof over her head, protection against the elements. A place to build her future.

Of course I hurried to have her catch a few of the wild creatures straight away. I wanted to see what it was like and what I could do with them. xD

Turns out, you can do so much with them! I've now caught myself an ant, a chicken, and a yak, and am sending them off on missions. I don't need them to fight by my side β€” I need them to go gather precious water for my dusty desert machines, and gather food so I have more stamina in these early days. πŸ˜…

Also, check out my shirt. xD I'm a KS Backer. I didn't kickstart Portia. I didn't kickstart Sandrock. I love them both. I sure as hell kickstartered Evershine! xD

At the moment I'm just doing little quests and gathering alllllllllllll the materials.

I like to have a massive stockpile so I can complete various commissions the moment I pick them up. One of my favourite things in Sandrock is being able to craft from chests and being able to give people things that are in storage without having to run back and pick those things up.

So that's my main thing at the moment β€” just the little quests, not the main quest, and gathering superfluous resources. I'll need to jump on the main quest soon though if I want my lady's future husband to come back to town. 😝

At the same time, there's new romance specific content coming next week... so, taking it slow.

Unfortunately, Unsuur, the person my last character married, has started hitting on my new lady. Sending her secret admirer letters and shiny gifts.

Must ignore!

It's okay. Logan and his right-hand man hijacked a train. Unsuur has been forgotten.

A very important moment in my Sandrock experience has arrived. Being able to farm things. This treacherous hag lovely old lady has invited me to go speak with the local moisture farmer so I, too, can farm goods in this vast sandy desert.

Which, of course, means that I need to make some money to expand my property a bit. I'm already running a bit short on space. Need more land! Especially if I'm going to farm. I also need more space for my animals. They've got no beds. I'm lucky they seem to like me.

I had enough money to expand my plot of land by one. Sadly. xD I'm going to need more money!

But that one expansion is enough for now. Should be enough room for a couple of soil patches. Build an empire later.

Unfortunately, as my little lady traversed to the moisture farm to learn what she could from Zeke, the moisture farmer, she had to defend herself. Mutated Lizard People were attacking the farm!

And then the machine that kept the moisture farm moisturised exploded!

And now everyone in town was going to run out of food!

But that's okay, my character is on the case β€” everything will be put to rights and she'll save the day like the little hero she is...

...in the next post! XD

Until next time! 🌡🌞

I have this game on a forgotten 'to do' list but never gave it a chance. I was attracted to it because it reminded me of Stardew Valley but in 3D. I had never seen anything about it, I didn't know there was a mechanic to enchant or capture Pokemon style creatures or something like that haha. I'm also surprised at how good it looks, I guess I didn't expect it to look so nice. Now that I have a good GPU maybe I should give it a try.

Ohhhhhhhhhh yesssss! You need to give it a try! :D

It basically is Stardew Valley but in 3D, but with a proper storyline too. It's less about farming though and more about building machines and constructions with a side of farming and animal raising. You can build your house however you like, decorate it, dye the furniture whatever colours you like.

The people you can have friendships/relationships with, you can go on proper dates whenever you like. Take them to lunch, go play games with them at the arcade, go sand dune racing, it's not just a heart scene you see once. Once married, you can also assign them to do things on the property. xD

The creature-catching thing is a DLC, but it's really nice! I'm really liking it.

But yeah, if you love Stardew Valley and other similar life-sim games, and don't mind grinding for resources, you'll love this!!
