Babbling About Writing!
I have done so much writing in the past three months, I'm surprised my fingers haven't broken off my hands and left little stumps in their fall. 😆
During these three months, I played through all three Dragon Age games and wrote their story playthroughs. I was writing about three or four posts a day and kept them all in my drafts ready for posting. That was about 8000 words a day, just for a game.
And THEN... when I was halfway through Inquisition, I had a sudden idea for a new novel and I started writing that, too. I got 20,000 words into that new novel when I had another idea for a novel I was already mid-writing.
And THENNNNNN... I realised that the new novel idea and that something I was already mid-writing could actually be parts of the same novel, and I began the task of mass worldbuilding to understand how it all fit together.
It was great. I was very productive. 😁
Now that I've worked out how it fits, I'm on the quest to actually write it all together. Which will, of course, change a few things that have already been written, but in the end it all works out. So I'm fairly chuffed about it.
The two ideas I'm now deciding to merge together:
- The Worldmeld - a post-apocalyptic adventure.
- Beneath the Evergreen - an adventure set in an alternate reality.
Instead of a group of friends surviving the moment two worlds merge, one falls through the tearing universal fabric and finds herself far in the future. The world has changed, demons and their beasts are ever-present, but humans have evolved to live among them... somewhat.
Which introduces what was previously the Evergreen — now simply what the world has become after hundreds of years.
This merge also allows more of a story to be told, as before The Worldmeld was going to be a "slice of life" and Beneath the Evergreen was a bit of a nonsensical mess, especially as to how the woman even arrived in the alternate reality.
Now she will be trying to understand this future world, finding connections to her past, and fighting to stay alive as a new friend aims to bring her before the council, but slowly discovers that everything he knew was a lie. But what can two lowly people do to save a world that wants them both destroyed?
It is said that the Goddess Alexandria and the great Sebastian bonded as one and together they birthed the first magi. Henceforth all elders of the council became known as Sebastians of the Order.
The demon Authrum, despite allowing this union, was jealous of their bond and raged with quaking anger. His anger was so great the world was torn asunder and the magi formed as one to repair it. Despite their efforts, the world remains in the shattered state you see today. The Sebastians are tasked with its slow, continued repair and the eradication of Authrum himself.
Authrum is still alive? Olivia gasped. Alexandria... Sebastian?
But of course. And his anger still rages against the Goddess. — Tomias sent her a smile — You have come to us in a time of silence, but his awakening is due once more soon.
Dun dun dunnnnnnn.
I'm pretty pleased with how it's all going. 😊 Now, if I could keep up this momentum, I might actually finish a novel for the first time in three years!
Wish me well for I will need it. Knowing me: I'll stop writing close to the end of the story and not pick it up again for another year or five. And then re-write it and change it completely. 😆
Until next time! 📚🤓📝
