Sometimes incorrect choices made in life have devastating consequences on the person, family, and loved ones. Individuals who commit crimes often don't think about the people left behind who are in pain over their decisions. This is especially true when children are involved. I share with you my micro story for the prompt "on his lap" that's told in exactly 50 words. The challenge was created by @felt.buzz.

Below is my story.
Jacent didn't flinch or cry, but sat stiff, staring at the assigned individuals who'd just sealed his destiny.
He regretted his parole violation as images of his infant daughter came into focus..
Who'd play, coddle her on his lap, or love her fiercely while he served the five-year prison sentence?

I feel he truly wishes he could have a redo as many others who don't think of the consequences in the throes of wrongdoing. Whatever they think they're gaining oftentimes isn't worth the monumental loss.

I have become friends with a man on death row in Tennessee. He's such a wonderful person now! But he clearly and painfully remembers and regrets that moment when he pulled a trigger (on a bad guy, but still), more than twenty years ago. I wish I could rewrite history for him.
