Christmas Boxes Came on April!
"One child, one box, once in a lifetime."
It was an opportunity to be a blessing to the kids of Cabugan and Bawod. Just this Saturday, we went to the barangays of Cabugan in the countryside and Bawod to distribute Samaritan boxes.
Prior to this event, we had joined training as teachers. We were specifically given instructions on how to prepare, execute this day of the outreach event, and deliver the love of God and the children who had prepared these boxes.
We were surprised that when we arrived at 8:30 AM at the venue, the kids were already there sitting and waiting for us. They had been waiting for almost an hour already! Boy, they were excited although they were not informed that there were gifts to be given I am pretty sure that they have a little bit of an idea!
As our schedule was set to start at nine in the morning, we checked their names and gave them nametags which will allow us to see their names and age right away during the outreach. This was handy because we can easily arrange them according to their age.
Of course, before starting, we did a rehearsal of our action songs. Our presenter that day was Pastor Pedot. The young people at church were there as teachers and volunteers at the same time. We will also be the ones going to invite these kids for their greatest journey after the said outreach.
We started with a prayer, a short one, a child-friendly prayer of course and then we had an icebreaker! The kids enjoyed their group yourselves game as you can see in the photos below.
And then proceed with the action songs! We sang and danced two songs, one was "Ang Diyos ay Mabuti sa Akin" and the other one was, "God Said I Love You". It was fun seeing the kids follow us and I am grateful for the volunteers who were all joyful just singing and dancing!
And then the storytelling started after that, the kids were all happy to raise their hands when they were asked if they were all ready for the story!
This was the start of the story, the creation of the world. The following photos show how the kids were eager to listen and they were very interested in the photos seen as the presenter flipped each huge page.
The storyteller made the story interesting as he lowered his style of teaching that fitted the kids. They were very attentive and were also reacting well to his questions and even his jokes.
As the presentation or the storytelling came to an end, we invited the kids as well about the discipleship that comes after this outreach program. There will be a weekly meetup for these kids at the same location. Then we also shared what they will be receiving, we opened the covering of the boxes and started giving them the gifts together with the booklet that talks about the love of God. The distribution followed. The kids were instructed to stay to where they were seated and we will be handing them their boxes accordingly.
As soon as everyone had received their boxes, we asked them to open the boxes together! It was fun seeing the kids delighted on every opening of their corresponding boxes. I was also happy seeing their smiles and every yehey during this event! Let me show the photos:
The same event happened in the afternoon at Bawod, we were really grateful for the parents who allowed the kids to come to the location and they spent a little time bringing their children and also listening to the story.
Here are the photos of the afternoon event:
I have heard powerful stories of children's lives changed because of a single box from OCC so I am super happy to be their partner together with the message of hope and love that comes from every box, we are praying that what the kids heard that day will be planted on their hearts and it will soon grow.
We still have other outreach events coming up in the next weeks so we are excited of the things that will still happen in the next outreaches! To God be the glory!

I live for this. 😍 Seeing the smiles of the children is just heartwarming! And the storytelling with the big colorful books was such a good activity to engage with children. Anyways, bless you and to those who shared their blessings with the kids.
Glory to God inday! it was priceless seeing them with their big smiles!
Better late than never..it's Christmas every day anyway 😊 you guys made those kids happy.

You are one of the people that the Philippines needs. May I ask how do you look and join an organization like yours? Really awesome work!
Building the children's ministry? This is nice! Love the smiles on these kids. It's a simple gesture but who knows, maybe you've already made their day with these things.
The Samaritan box! These boxes if I'm not mistaken came from the generous people outside our country, am I right?
I remember this box. My son received one years ago with a letter inside of a child who gave that gift.
Kids were so happy having it and grateful for it.
