Black Sand of Guindulman

Bohol is known for the white sand beaches almost everywhere, Anda for one is quite famous for that and it's just a neighboring town but let me tell you that our beach here is the total opposite of the neighboring town. We have instead, a black sand beach!
Even if I had lived my entire life near the beach, I never got tired of enjoying it. I remember back when I was younger, my siblings and I would go to the beach even if there was a storm. Yes, we had tried swimming even if the waves were huge and harsh, our parents came to the beach looking for us, I realize now how dangerous that was, thankfully, nothing bad happened to us.
When I reached my high school year, I learned to change preferences, from the black sand, I recall just craving the white sand of Anda or Basdio, the barangay in Guindulman that has white sand. It's sad that the black sand beach that I have grown up with has been disregarded.
As I look at our once wide and long black sand beach, it brought memories. Back then, there were no seawalls, and the rising seawater levels made our local government push on building sea walls to protect the community. I remember kids would all be at the beach by the afternoon after school. A lot of games were played here. We also search for seashells, the edible ones until dark and bring them home for dinner's food.
Today, there are only a few people at the beach, most of them fishermen, I didn't see that many kids anymore except for those who were there to take a dip. The black sand had been a witness to our childhood, the drama at the shore, and the laughter we shared with our friends and families. I love to spend some time again with the black sand beach, soon, I'll try to take an afternoon stroll again.
