99 Hugot Lines in Bohol

The last time we traveled to Cebu via the Loon-Argao route was over two years ago. The ferry assigned there was damaged during Typhoon Odette and I had no idea when they had resumed their operations so the past year, we traveled to Cebu via Tubigon.
It’s May again and so that means that summer outings are back again. Last year, my husband’s company went to JPark and we even were given an opportunity to book a room there. This year, they are set to go to Plantation Bay. There was no news of us getting an offer for a discounted overnight stay so we are only going there for a day tour.
But before we go to Cebu City, we have to also visit the in-laws and for Matti to spend time with his grandparents and cousin. And so yesterday, we decided to go to Loon for their 1:30 PM trip schedule. We were supposed to go early but when we learned that the trip was at 1:30 PM, our lazy butts decided to stay in bed longer, we eventually missed the ferry and so we were left in Loon without anything to do.
We decided to just take that time to enjoy the town. We headed to the place called 99 Hugot lines. This is a famous lane in Loon as there are many cement blocks with “hugot” lines written in them. Hugot is a Filipino word that means to pull out or extract. The word is often used in reference to emotions or feelings, as in “hugot from the heart.”
It was noontime when we arrived so it was super hot but we still went out of the car and took photos. Matti was all cool with me taking photos of him. I laughed at reading these phrases. If you are a Filipino, you surely can understand them all.
It was not just us during this visit, there were many who also pulled over and took photos and selfies with the hugot lanes. It would take time if you’d read all 99 of them so you better go around on your car or motorcycle and read the lines then pick your favorite.
As for us, we didn’t take a long time here. My husband took a drone video and then said goodbye afterward as we were on the search for a room to sleep in for the night.
Thanks for reading!
