张元济其人
张元济今天已被人们遗忘，他为近代中国文化普及做了什么似乎无人知晓。中国是全中国人民缔造的中国，在这个几千年的过程中有无数仁人志士为他抛头颅洒热血，贡献了自己的一生，这样的就象长城，是一块块砖石砌成的，绝不能把这功劳驾到一个人头上，言必称皇上，皇上千古，皇上最伟，没有皇上就没有中国，这种小儿科的狭隘思维早该休矣。
张元济是一位学人，但是他接手了当时在上海的商务印刷所，将这小小的印刷所最后发展了商务印书馆，商务印书馆是当今旧中国经营最成功的民族工商业，其印刷了西方各种经典名著，包括文学，经济，史学，哲学，科学，和马克思主义的经典著作。又编写了《辞海》，英汉大辞典等等大量辞书，是中外文化交流的集大成者。
在那时的书界，言必称商务印书馆也。就是今天商务印书馆也是出版的大家。开改开放后两千种西方经典重印，文学名著重印，各种辞书词典的大量重印，商务印书馆功不可没。
对此商务印书馆总是秉承传播文化知识在先，这些传统都与张元济的当年的培育分不开的。陈云同志当年就在商务印书馆当排字工，在那个充满文化的大环境中他得到了自学的机会，有了觉悟，并影响了后来的中国。所以张元济先生为商务印书馆的发展立下汗马功劳，我们不应忘记。新中国的建立是多元因素构成的，不是一人一物一言一语造就的。
