[ENG-SPN] When beauty looks back at you / Cuando la belleza te devuelve la mirada

Priceless as a mirror of life, water, paradoxically, is also that mirror, whose response arouses a metaphorical reproach in that irrepressible executive arm of the ego, which is always vanity, a question that, however, has been widely exploited by Philosophy since the dawn of time.

There we have, without going any further, the famous myth of Narcissus, so enthralled by contemplating himself reflected in the pristine waters of a pond, that, one day, that ill-intentioned mocking genius, who, in the end, is Destiny, wanted him to lose his footing, fall into the water and drown.

But, on the other hand, as Lewis Carroll demonstrated, the mirror and in his case, the imitation of water, also allows us to enter other worlds, even if only in a metaphorical way and for the photographer, at least, it constitutes an exercise where beauty looks back at you without blushing.

Inapreciable como atanor de vida, el agua, paradójicamente, es también ese espejo, cuya respuesta suscita un metafórico reproche en ese irreprimible brazo ejecutor del ego, que es siempre la vanidad, cuestión, que, no obstante, ha sido ampliamente explotada por la Filosofía desde el alba de los tiempos.

Ahí tenemos, sin ir más lejos, el famoso mito de Narciso, tan embelesado de contemplarse a sí mismo reflejado en las prístinas aguas de un estanque, que, un día, ese mal intencionado genio burlón, que, en el fondo, es el Destino quiso que perdiera pie, cayera al agua y se ahogase.

Pero, por otra parte, como demostró Lewis Carroll, el espejo y en su caso, el remedo del agua, permite también adentrarse en otros mundos, siquiera sea de una manera metafórica y para el fotógrafo, al menos, constituye un ejercicio donde la belleza te devuelve sin sonrojo la mirada.
