Above all, if, once the popular Calle de Miranda has been left behind, with that generous source of stories, which, in the end, are the travelers who constantly enter and leave the bus station, the visitor approaches the surroundings of the historic center, in whose center, as the most representative place, within an imaginary mandala, rises one of the greatest universal landmarks of all time, not only in reference to that path of spirituality and transcendence, known as Santiago, of the Stars or the Milky Way, but also as an artistic, historical and cultural element and, therefore, justly deserving of the classification of Asset of General Interest, which is its immeasurable cathedral, dedicated, as it could not be, to another way, to the majestic figure of Santa María.

Los inviernos, en ese corazón de la Vieja Castilla, que todavía, al cabo de los siglos continúa siendo esa cuna de las grandes gestas y leyendas protagonizadas por los primeros condes, que es Burgos, aparte de gélidos, suelen ser, también, en base a la consistencia y a la persistencia de sus nieblas matinales, toda una generosa invitación a la especulación fantástica. Sobre todo, si, una vez dejada atrás la popular calle de Miranda, con esa generosa fuente de historias, que, en el fondo, son los viajeros que constantemente entran y salen de la estación de autobuses, el visitante se acerca a las inmediaciones del casco histórico, en cuyo centro, como el lugar más representativo, dentro de un imaginario mandala, se levanta uno de los más grandes hitos universales de todos los tiempos, no sólo en referencia a ese camino de espiritualidad y trascendencia, conocido como de Santiago, de las Estrellas o de la Vía Láctea, sino, además, como elemento artístico, histórico y cultural y, por lo tanto, justo merecedor de la calificación de Bien de Interés general, que es su inconmensurable catedral, dedicada, como no podía ser de otra manera, a la majestuosa figura de Santa María.

Cuando se viaja a Burgos por primera vez y se tiene la suerte de hacerlo, dándose estas circunstancias, es inevitable, que, dejándose llevar por un espontáneo acceso de especulativo romanticismo, el visitante, al fin y al cabo, reo siempre de sus propias emociones, sienta, de alguna manera, trascendentemente personal, que está realizando un inesperado viaje en el tiempo, que, además, y de una manera alegóricamente comparativa, le acerca y tal vez, hermane con esos mismos sentimientos que experimentaba el peregrino medieval, que, no por casualidad, se encontraba esta verdadera maravilla en su camino, ilustrándose en sus innumerables claves y misterios.
