In some ways very similar to those described by that great contemporary mythologist Joseph Campbell, in the course of a lifetime dedicated to diving, with surprising ease, into the fascinating world of hermeneutics that always accompanies the comparative history of religions. , we could also see, in the adventure of those bold emigrants from northern Spain who left for the Americas, with their pockets so empty, how full their hearts were with dreams and chimeras, one of the great modern myths of the so-called hero's journey. A journey that, starting from the metaphorical ports of uncertainty, became a true life adventure, from which many, unfortunately, never returned.

Others, however, having overcome the thorny encounters with their destiny, returned after years, with the treasure gained of a succulent capital, awakening the envy of their countrymen, who, however, crowded around them like flies, trying to get some kind of benefit, making good the saying that, you have so much, so you are worth so much. These Indians, as they were known, apart from their generosity towards their countrymen, also left as a legacy, some spectacular mansions and mansions, which constitute a cultural legacy, although many of them, unfortunately, are today in complete ruin. Some even went further, like the Brigantine Juan García Naviera, who ordered the construction, with great detail, where esotericism and Masonic references are not lacking, exalted works for public enjoyment, such as the attractive Pasatiempo, which is one of the most visited and tourist aspects of the beautiful Coruña town of Betanzos.

Their legacy was quite intense in the North, although, unfortunately, most of the buildings they left are today ruined and full of ghosts from the past. Or what is the same: memories of other times.
