[ENG-SPN] Speaking of Stendhal Syndrome / Hablando del síndrome de Stendhal

Not far from Sotosalbos and the legendary love affairs of the famous Archpriest of Hita, there are other towns, other places of interest, which, for the lover of art and above all, of that Romanesque architecture that for centuries defined the style of Christianity par excellence, constitute a great cultural adventure.

One of them, close to the workshops of Sepúlveda and neighbouring that Romanesque basin of Duraton, on the banks of which one of the main cemeteries of Visigothic Spain was established, is none other than this peaceful place, which, responding to the name of Perorrubio, surprises the traveller with its spectacular 12th century church, located, moreover, at the very foot of the main road that crosses the town.

A church, which, sheltered by a magnificent porticoed gallery and preserving the unmistakable traces of the famous bricklayers' workshops settled in the area during a good part of the medieval period, can cause a temporary pause in the traveller's perception, provoking an excess of Art in the senses, in what some still continue to define as the Stendhal syndrome.

No muy lejos de Sotosalbos y los legendarios enamoramientos del famoso Arcipreste de Hita, hay otros pueblos, otros lugares de interés, que, para el amante del Arte y sobre todo, de esa arquitectura románica que durante siglos definió el estilo de la Cristiandad por antonomasia, constituyen una gran aventura cultural.

Uno de ellos, cercano a los talleres de Sepúlveda y vecino de esa hoya románica del Duratón, a cuya vera se asentó uno de los principales cementerios de la España visigoda, no es otro que este pacífico lugar, que, respondiendo al nombre de Perorrubio, sorprende al viajero con su espectacular iglesia del siglo XII, situada, además, al pie mismo de la carretera general que atraviesa el pueblo.

Una iglesia, que, amparada por una magnífica galería porticada y conservando las huellas inequívocas de los famosos talleres de albañiles asentados en la zona durante buena parte de la época medieval, puede llegar a causar un pasajero paréntesis en la percepción del viajero, provocando en los sentidos un exceso de Arte, en aquello que algunos todavía continúan definiendo como el síndrome de Stendhal.
