Enchanted architectures of Palencia

(Edited)

From this marked period of transition, which, at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, characterized Spanish civil architecture, standing out, mainly, in the large capitals, the most striking are those designs, which, based on a new classicism, were also the predecessors of another style, the Modernist, whose singularities were leaving, by default, another rich heritage, highlighting, both its historical, artistic and cultural facet, which, without a doubt, is worth discovering.

One of the most relevant examples and located, in addition, a short distance from the Historic Center of the city, is the Palace of the Provincial Council of one of the most stately and historic capitals, in addition, of Old Castile: Palencia.

A fantasy palace, designed in the early years of the 20th century, with no shortage of interesting neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque details, which, having suffered some unfortunate events throughout its existence, such as the fire that affected it in 1966, also captures the traveller's imagination, not only for its fantasy design and the neo-symbolism of its abundant details, but also for the black legend that time and circumstances have left behind.

Details, in essence, with a marked cultural aspect, which, in any case, enrich the traveller's experience, always eager and expectant to accumulate, at the suggestion of the retina, all the anecdotes and memories that always entail that great vital adventure, which is none other than travelling.
