Weekend Dinner Date with College Bestie! 🥬🥓🥢🍜 || Dancing Through Life's Disappointments💃
"People who love to eat are the best people!" Perhaps you have also heard of this quote. Do you agree? 🙋♀️ Because I do! One of the best people in my circle are the ones who I spend time sharing meals with.☺️ There's something so "bonding" and "intimate" about breaking bread on the table and sharing life together.
Last weekend I was blessed with spending time with my college bestie. We went to an unlimited Korean barbeque (samgyupsal) 🥓 place and had our fill! Its name is Jeju located at Banilad Town Center (BTC).
Of course we had time to catch up with what's what about life. As we were cooking the meat, we were sharing bits and pieces of our lives - our recent challenges and our small wins. It was encouraging to know that I am not alone in going through this life. The chitchat time would not be complete without a side of gossip lol. There was was saucy conversation about "The Crown" series - Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Camilla. It was quite rather spicy🔥 talking about it.
Thanks so much again for this time bestie and I look forward to our Christmas get-together! Yaaasss🥰🥰🥰

Dancing Through Life's Disappointments
"Turn your wounds into wisdom." – Oprah Winfrey
The day I lost my cat, Whiskers, was the day the skies of my heart clouded over, unforecasted and unforgiving. There he was, a tiny furball I'd nursed from the time he was no bigger than my palm, now lifeless—a victim to the silent thief that is time. That stormy ache, the hollow feeling of loss, it clung to me, a relentless echo of the love we shared. It became the storm from which I needed to find shelter, a way out, a path forward.
But as with all things, the storm widened, and so did the breadth of my sorrow. It crept into the crevices of lost loves, the shadows of failed relationships, the gut-wrenching twists of career setbacks, and the taxing trials of parenting. These were not just my sorrows; they were universal echoes resonating in the chambers of human experiences. Every heart has known the sharp sting of disappointment, and every soul has grappled with the weight of defeat.
The beauty of these trials, however, lies hidden beneath their harshness. It is a beauty I discovered in the reflections of my own journey, in the quiet moments of introspection. Each setback, each tear shed, became a masterful stroke in the portrait of wisdom. I learned that it is not in the avoidance of disappointment but in the crucible of it that we distill the essence of wisdom. Each letdown became a lesson, and with every lesson, the blueprint of resilience was drawn.
Understanding the fabric of human nature, the delicate threads that bind our emotional responses, became a refuge and a guidepost. With each disappointment, I learned to respond—not with desolation but with nurturing and proactive kindness towards myself. This self-compassion became my shield, tempering the blows of letdowns, preventing them from ravaging my spirit. It's about knowing when to hold on and when to breathe deep and let go.
Letting go is no mere act of defeat; it is an art. It's the strokes of a pen across a journal, where sorrows spill and become less daunting. It's found in the sweat and laughter of new hobbies, the sanctuary of personal passions, and the gentle embrace of a hopeful future. It is a future painted not in the hues of past pains, but in the vibrant colors of possibility. This letting go is not an erasure of memory but a celebration of survival and a toast to what lies ahead.
For every look back is a map to move forward, a compass crafted from yesterday's lessons guiding us to tomorrow's triumphs. It is with this compass that I charted a course from the storm-ridden now to the hopeful horizons. Here, disappointments are not dead-ends, but detours on the journey to a richer, fuller version of ourselves. It is a journey that encourages us, beseeches us, to nurture patience and kindness within, as we would with a friend in need.
So, let this be the clarion call to all weary hearts, the battered souls, and the seekers of light amid darkness. You are more than the sum of your disappointments. You are a diamond, resplendent and unbreakable, formed under the weight of the world's trials. Hold fast to this truth. Let it echo through the canyons of doubt and the plains of uncertainty. You are a testament to endurance, a standard-bearer of hope. And in this journey, remember that it is not merely about surviving the storm but emerging from it with a newfound radiance that the world will behold in awe.
Embrace the storms of life, for within them lies the strength to blossom anew and the path to radiant horizons.
My dear friends, I stand before you today, not as a stranger to the tempest of loss and disappointment, but as a fellow traveler on the complex journey of life. I remember the day I lost my cat, a beloved companion, whose absence cast a long shadow over my heart. In that shadow, I discovered a profound truth that extends far beyond the loss of a pet: our deepest sorrows have the power to teach us the most invaluable lessons about ourselves.
Each of us has faced, or will face, a torrent of setbacks – the sharp pangs of broken relationships, the sting of professional disappointments, the relentless challenges of parenting, and the deep ache of loss. These are not just my stories; these are our stories, weaving a tapestry of human experience rich with emotion and growth.
In this shared human experience, we have a choice. We can allow the waves of disappointment to erode the shores of our spirit, or we can choose to see each setback as a chisel, shaping us into works of art. It is through the art of managing these disappointments that our true strength is revealed. When we embrace nurturing responses—forgiveness of self, acceptance, and patience—we allow ourselves to mend more resiliently. I urge you to practice this self-compassion as fiercely as you would advocate for a dear friend. Disappointment, my friends, is not the end of the story; it is simply a complex chapter that adds depth to the narrative of your life, enriching it with wisdom and preparing you for greater things to come.
So, I ask you to stand tall amidst the storms, to lean into the winds of challenge with the knowledge that you possess an unyielding core. Every moment of hardship is crafting you into a diamond, breathtaking in its resilience and beauty. Remember, the power to transcend disappointment is within you. Nurture it, honor it, and let it propel you towards a future where every past pain is a pillar of strength in the foundation of your extraordinary life. You are not alone, and you are more capable than you ever imagined. Together, let's step forward, not just to cope with life's storms but to dance in the rain, knowing that the sun always reemerges, and so shall we, stronger and full of hope.
