"being myself in a world trying to make me someone else"✨
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson"
I cannot help but agree in the above. Don't you, too? I mean now more than ever we, are all constantly bombarded with so much comparison, and I will be lying if I told you I haven't "tried" to be someome else so that "people" would like me.
What's up, Hive friends?! Happy weekend!🦋🦋🦋 I hope you are all well. Today I would love to share this inspirational bit I read from my newsletter subscription via LinkedIn. It was thought-provoking so I thought I might share it.
Here's "Discovering Self-Worth Through Reflection and Revelation":
From the very moment the chilling reality dawned upon me that an impersonator had lifted my identity, my narrative crumbled. It felt as though a mirror had been thrust in front of me, reflecting a past where my self-worth had been dimmed by circumstance and external voices. The audacity of the act was a clear testament to my past complacency, where I had allowed others to determine my value, to narrate my story. The past incidents, like forgotten scars, re-emerged - times when I had failed to assert my worth, silently acquiescing to the background noise that invalidated my identity. Such external validations, both sought and unsought, became the shackles that bound me.
However, amidst this storm of emotions, a yin yoga class provided the oasis of calm and introspection. As each pose stretched my body, my soul too began to stretch, confronting the shadows of my past and juxtaposing them with my present. The mats around me bore silent witness to the transformation taking place within. This wasn't just a physical practice; it was a profound journey into the core of my being. Through the tranquility of that class, emotions spanning anger to gratitude swirled within, eventually converging to a moment of realization about my intrinsic self-worth.
It was in this moment of silence and reflection that I understood the profundity of my worth. Not defined by likes, shares, or plagiarists, but by the unshakeable belief in my own story, my own journey. The external world had its perceptions, yet it was the inner sanctum of self-belief that truly mattered. My identity wasn't to be outsourced for validation; it was to be cherished and protected.
With this newfound awareness, I felt a power surging within. I began to assert my worth, not with arrogance, but with a quiet confidence. I set boundaries, both tangible and intangible, ensuring that my narrative wasn't hijacked or diluted. Each day became an affirmation, a testament to the belief that I was enough, that I mattered, and that my story was unique and invaluable.
To anyone reading this, remember that our journeys are singular, yet they resonate with universal emotions. As I share my emotions, from the raw vulnerability of having my identity stolen to the empowering realization of self-worth, I hope you find echoes of your own struggles and triumphs. More than anything, I wish for you to believe in your worth, to embrace it fiercely, and to never let anyone else write your story for you.
Remember this: each thread, including yours, carries a unique essence, an irreplaceable value. You might encounter moments when the world, in its cacophony, attempts to drown out your melody, or worse, rewrite your song. Yet, the power to assert your worth, your individuality, always rests with you. Don't be swayed by those who don't see your value; often, they're the ones who are blinded by their own insecurities.
Embrace the fact that you are unparalleled, with a narrative that is uniquely yours. It's not for others to validate, but for you to cherish and share in its authentic brilliance. When shadows of doubt loom, or when external voices attempt to overshadow your own, stand tall in your truth. Your journey, with its highs and lows, has sculpted you into the incredible person you are today. And in that journey, find the empowerment, the affirmation, and the unwavering belief that you, dear reader, are immeasurably valuable.

That was some seriously AMAZING piece and I highly think you agree as well. The line that has resonated with me the most was this: Embrace the fact that you are unparalleled, with a narrative that is uniquely yours. It sums up the whole article. There is so much freedom when we learn to embrace the entirety of who we are - the good, the bad, the ugly and all that there is!
Our story - the narrative we have and we tell people - is uniquely ours; there is none on Earth that has the same ups and downs that we have! We have to own our stories and bask in our unique identity of who we are. To live out the days of being our authentic selves instead of "masking up" so that people would find us "acceptable in their own standards". It is a challenge that is so difficult yet so liberating. I think I am up to this challenge. Are you, dear hive reader? 🩵
