SUMMER OUTFIT for DALIA || Introducing My New Doll

(Edited on Canva)

Before I submit my entry for Needleworkmonday Community's contest: Needlework Your Barbie Contest, I would like to present this summer outfit I made for Dahlia.

I named her Dahlia after the name of my mom Dalia (adding with letter H), simply because I like her name. Dahlia is also a beautiful flower with lots of petals and differs in colors.

I bought two dolls in Shopee last year (December), one for me and the other one for @romeskie's daughter Aya that I had given. I specifically choose this kind of doll because it looked beautiful, the hair is nice and long, the eyes are pretty big and all the necessary parts of her body have joints that can bend whatever post or movement you like. The dolls came with no clothes or shoes but that's not a problem for me as I can make her a new outfit that I'll be sharing with you now.

As I was making Dahlia's summer outfit, I was thinking of what profession should I choose for my Barbie to portray as my entry for the contest. At first, I was thinking of a fashion designer that designs outfit and sew them in reality. Like my mother, she sews dresses for her customers, only she's not a fashion designer. That was also one of my dream but definitely not sewing fabrics but using those colorful yarns by crocheting.

Anyway, here are the materials that I used in making Dahlia's outfit.

Materials

IMG20230420151125_01

  • 3ply mercerized variegated cotton yarn
  • 2mm crochet hook
  • pearls/beads (I forgot what size it is but the smaller one.)
  • scissor/trimmer (I forgot to include this one in the picture. 😅✌️)

I hadn't used any tape measures as I have my model beside me so anytime I could test the size of chains or length of the costume on her body directly.

By the way, my inspiration for making Dahlia's outfit can be seen here. I was amazed and dazzled by the creator's masterpiece and loved to try it in minis.

Procedure

SKIRT

First I made the skirt. I made some basic stitches here that compost only chains and double crochet. As you can see, it was just a plain skirt but because of its color, the effect was pretty awesome.

I also put some pearls on the upper slit area and it looked stunning.

Next, was her top. I find it hard to crochet the replica top of Kaekae's creation in the smaller size, so what I did was to make 2 caps, joined them, put some pearls underneath the caps, and make the straps and ties on the back.

Lastly, the bandana. It wasn't included in the inspiration that I was following but I just like the idea of putting something on her long hair. Same with the skirt, the pattern was just simple and easy that everyone I think could follow.

Pictorial

As much as I enjoy the process of making her the outfit, I also have fun taking her pictures.

Dahlia looks 200% more beautiful than when naked as you bought her, this shows an unfinished business on the part of the manufacturer. Why will a beautiful doll be made and sold without cloth. these guys(company) could use your help, it would make their product look more attractive to customers while making a judge deal of money for you, what do you think.

Anyways, you did a great job, I'm sure Dahlia would be happy her got into caring hands, i would like to have her digits, haha let's where things go from there, LOL

Thank you so much for this flattering words. 🥰 I think they're meant to be like that for reselling or rebranding. They haven't a formal pack either. Actually I'm thinking of making crochet dresses for dolls to be sold along with the dolls. But I'm still up to something for now. Hoping I could make it happen in the next few months. 🥰

Dahlia's parents are so strict. So i couldn't give you her number. 😅🤪

Anyway, thank you again for the time you spent reading this post and making a comment. I really appreciate it. God bless you @corporateay 🥰😘

Hoping that would happen in the future. 🙏😊 But first, I have to start designing those clothes now. 🥰

I have seen people who specialise in crochet doll clothes. And your Dali doll looks like one of those models. I have a doubt, is she a fashion designer after all? It's the first time I've seen a (plastic) doll with black hair. Best regards.

Yeah I saw those dolls also. But theirs are way too expensive and their eyes are fierce. With heavy make up. I love it when they model those beautiful gowns with intricate details. But my Dahlia looks pretty in her own and very refreshing. Her hair is like ours, it must be from the salons where ladies had cut their long hair short. Dahlia being a fashion designer? Maybe, or maybe not. 🤭 let's see what she will be on my next post. 🥰

I fell in love with that skirt. The whole outfit you knitted is beautiful my friend, you sure could have been an excellent designer and very good with fabrics. You work wonders with yarns.

I love the face of your doll. I wish you good luck in the contest. Congratulations.

Hi, I must admit that I really loved your Barbie's outfit, that yarn you used, it gave a very special touch to your doll because of its beautiful color. I know how difficult it is to knit pieces that small, but you got them perfect. Congratulations 👏, thanks for sharing, good luck in the contest, success and blessings 💕.

I really liked the color of the thread that you chose, it gives it a great effect, the skirt is beautiful but I loved the bandana and the pearls on the top. She looks well prepared for the summer 🥰

True, even if I used ordinary or basic stitches, the effect is still beautiful because of the yarn color.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting @irenenavarroart. I do appreciate it. 🥰

Why don't you sell this products on https://hivelist.store?

Given that Hive is growing fast, it is only a matter of time Hive will have 10 million subscribers or more. When that happens, the early birds in Hivelist store who have established a reputation will have an advantage over the new entrants. If you start your store on Hivelist.store early you will reap the benefits when Hive reaches 10 million or more subscribers.

Also remember many Hiveans would generally go out of their way to support Hive projects. Therefore if your products are sold in many platforms, these Hiveans would still prefer to buy from Hivelist.store rather than from a non-Hive platform.

Besides that you can also start accumulating LIST tokens now while they are cheap with a view to using them to upvote your customers when they comment, review or write about your products.

When Hive subscriber base has increased to 10 million or more, your upvotes will be worth much more than they are now as the LIST tokens would have appreciated in value because of the demand created by the increased subscriber base of Hive.
