"When Guardian Dogs Turn Rogue: A Firsthand Account of a Sheep Attack"
HELLO HIVE
Livestock guardian dogs are basically loyal protectors that perform the important duty of warding off predators that are on the move to harm our livestock but sometimes even the most well trained dogs do misbehave showing the normal predictive character that is part of their genes, turning on animals they are meant to protect and harming them I ways we can hardly imagine.
Because of their nature as predators themselves, the strong canine, they inflict terrible injuries on the livestock they turn on within a short period of time.
We can't always dedicate the whole day to watching our livestock especially when we have other activities to attend which is the primary reason why these dogs are placed to watch the livestock after training them but then images like this make us question our decision to have dogs as loyal protectors for our livestock.
The dog inflicted sheep with a large, deep cut on the side exposing significant parts of its tissues, with a lot of blood lost during the process.
We had to quickly contain the dog and separate it from the livestock to prevent any other occurrence, cause for a predator that has undergone so much training to begin showing these signs it means we can't trust it with our livestock anymore, but if we can trust dogs that are supposed to be loyal with these kinds of task then how do we keep our livestock safe from other wild predators.
After so much effort to have a vet come over and see if there was any chance of keeping the sheep alive 😔 it finally soccumed to its wounds.
