I picked up a cultural food from friends around me and now am cultivating its most important ingredient.

HELLO HIVE

People who have mixed up with different cultures go around eating different kinds of food, there are so many cultures around the world and each culture comes with their own food that is specific to their own culture and the more you get to know about them the more you get accustomed to their food.

Starting from when I was a kid I have actually moved from place and I can speak some of their languages even more than mine and one thing that I have also picked up is the food they eat.

The culture that I picked up the fastest if hausa culture though I spent less time with them than the others one of their special food is one vegetative plant that is called yakuwa in hausa and a botanical name hibiscus sabdariffa and the English name is Roselle, red sorrel, sour sorrel. I enjoyed this first from one of our neighbors then when I was a kid and we we're living amongst them but with time my mom learnt how to make it and began preparing it for us.

Virtually all its parts are important from the leaf which was the vegetable it self to the fruit and the seed. Since it is good to cultivate what you eat especially vegetables I now have this plant every where I farm, this doesn't disturb the other crop on the farm cause I am only planting it at the boundary of my farm.

This vegetable can be used on its own to make vegetable soup or you can mix it with other leafs like spinach to make the soup that you want.

Your rosella field looks better than the one I have here. The ones here didn't produce well.
I equally enjoy the leave and soft stems.
Thanks for sharing .
