Certain traits are found on the leaves of healthy plants and cassava has its own traits like the vibrant green colour of the plant, the good shape of the leaf and the absence of unfamiliar spots or decoloration.

When the leaves are bright green then it indicates good chlorophyll production and nutrient availability, when the leaves are well shaped that shows proper growth.

Different signs show different changes and deficiencies in the cassava plant

  • Yellowing shows nitrogen deficiency, poor chlorophyll production and overwatering if the land is around areas with huge water activity.

  • Spots indicate potential fungal or bacterial activities on the plant, some of these microbial activities are very harmful to the plant.

  • Wilting and dropping of the 🌿 is another sign of water deficiency or root damage that could be a result of pests like rodents that are known to frequently bore holes into the roots of the plant to feed on the tubers.

The leaf of the cassava plant gives a lot of insight about the plant and the more we know about these signs the greater our chances of making more yields from our fields.
