TRENCHING AT THE HOMESTEAD...MANUAL LABOR AT IT'S BEST๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜

I BROKE THE TRENCHING MACHINE

As I had mentioned in a previous blog, I managed to break the only mechanical trencher I know of in the area.

So I broke out the old fashioned trenching devices, the shovels and post hole diggers.. and a couple of pickaxes. It's definitely not the quickest way, or the easiest, but it is absolutely the best workout if you're digging a trench.

*The first section dug on day one after the trencher broke. I think it was about 36 ft.

STAYING FOCUSED...

This is the hard part. As I've mentioned before I have a habit of daydreaming and getting distracted easily. Our cute my music on and it keeps my motivation up. The daydreaming is not so bad, as sometimes when I snap back to reality I realize I have dug 10 or 15 ft and don't even remember doing the work. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ That's how good I am at daydreaming I guess. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

*Day two was spent laying the pipe in the trench and filling the trench back in, compacting the dirt, and then leveling and smoothing everything out for a good finish look.

THE THOUSAND MILE JOURNEY...

When I was a kid, I did not like the show The mighty Morphin power rangers. I was however forced to watch it because some of my cousins and family members did like it. Of all the times of watching it, and it was hundreds of times, the one thing that stuck out with me more than anything else is that in one of the episodes one of them said, "Even a thousand mile journey begins with one step." I have no idea where the quote came from or if they were the first ones to use it, but it is a great driving force for me when I have big projects to do it is a good driving force when I have big projects to do. Each shovel full of dirt is just another step in my thousand mile journey.

*And this is where I'm at on my thousand Mile journey today.

HALF WAY POINT

I have definitely achieved the halfway point as far as the length I have to dig. And I hope to have it finished by this weekend so that I can get back to hunting. I have disallowed myself to hunt almost completely until the trench is finished because the trench is more important at this point.

HOW I DIG IT

Below is a short video to show how I did the trench.
