MY FIRST SOULS GAME: LIES OF P (MY FIRST POST IN THE COMMUNITY)

DISCLAIMER: ALL IMAGES UPLOADED ARE SCREENSHOTS IN MY GAMEPLAY

Hi, I’m new here and my name is John, a gamer/artist by nature. I stumbled upon this community through my friend who recommended it to me. Scrolling through I realized that I could be a part of interesting gamers and share my passion and experience with you all. So, without further ado, I’ll begin sharing a world of my own, a world of games.

After checking through the community, I realized a lot of posts were about individual progress through the game but I just started Elden Ring and do not have a lot of content on it yet but, before finding out about the community, I do have a weird hobby of taking screenshots of cinematic and thrilling scenes and then using them as my wallpapers; a sense of achievement and joy I give to myself after finishing a good game. That is why I decided to start with lies of p as I did take a lot of amazing and sweet screenshots as keepsakes of my experience.

THE GAME: LIES OF P

LIES OF P is a game developed by Neowitz and has a soul-like gameplay like the popular souls’ games we all know from “From Software” (pun intended) but in the end it is only similar; an adaptation modified to the company’s trademark.

The story is set in the city of Krat where mechanized humanoids known as “Puppets” powered by “Ergo” are used for the betterment of the day-to-day activities in the city of Krat. Ergo is a glowing blue rock or mineral mined underground in the city. While Giuseppe Geppetto built the first puppet, Giovanni manufactured the rest and every other machinery powered by Ergo.

In the game you awaken as the puppet “P” with help from Sophia, you’re then tasked with finding your way to Hotel Krat, after a series of tutorial and puppet bashing, you discover that almost all citizens are dead and the living ones barricade themselves indoors. Basically, you can only go where the game lets you and you cannot enter anywhere else…seeing as everywhere was gloomy, dark, lifeless and constant death and depression in the air…I didn’t take any screenshots in the beginning. Either way, I encountered my first merchant, boss and finally found myself in Hotel Krat.

The game allows some customizable features and I made use of that as seen in the picture above. I used a hound mask and hunter apparel for a while.
But I did take some screenshots while saluting in the game; a gesture mechanic available in the game as well.

Back to the gameplay, the story makes use of a unique tool where in some required situations, you can choose to “lie” or tell the “truth” which determines how the story unravels or will end as you advance in the game but to enter the Hotel Krat you need to lie as a human or else the door won’t open for you.

A lot of lovable NPCs are found within the hotel with their respective stories and plots to unravel as you progress. One of my favourite is the owner of the hotel who acted as a motherly figure for P. Her sweetness and kindness were comfort in the sad and gloomy remains of the city of Krat.

EXPLORATION

I didn’t take much of exploration but I do have a few shots that were too good to pass up.

Here’s P walking into a garden.

BOSSES
Screenshot (136).png
If you’re having trouble in this game, then it’s definitely the bosses. At first learning the timing of their attacks took a while but I got the hang of it…only to be taken by surprise in the middle of the story that the bosses started having two phases, a docile and well-paced battle in the first round with its own pool of health and an enraged and chaotic battle for the second stage with also its own full pool of health….it was crazy but didn’t stop me from getting good shots in as well.

Yup…definitely creepy.

This shot is very cool for me because of how much it looks like a Jojo reference (The anime)

GOODBYES AND STORY FINALE

I am trying quite a lot not to reveal spoilers about this game for those who want to try it out but a note of warning…a lot of characters will die and I will try to keep the dialogue to a minimum, hope you enjoy the shots.

CONCLUSION

I really enjoyed playing lies of p, it is a beautiful game that is well thought and engineered and it definitely eased me in to the world of souls’ games. Elden ring is crazy but like LOP, I will get the hang of it…just have to die like a billion more times in the game.
Before I end this, check out my ending stats in the game;

It really is a beautiful game…who knows, maybe I will replay it again when I get the chance…until then.

I'm glad you've been encouraged to share your screenshots here, any image of scenery, enemies, characters, anything you can consider beautiful screenshots in any video game context will always be welcome and even more if you accompany them with a good story.
I heard about this game when it came out but until this post I had not seen anything concrete, it looks absolutely brutal, it is not in my plans to play it in the short term but no doubt at some point I will, hold the soulslike that at least to me have helped me to develop patience and improve mechanically in games.
