Behind the Enchantment of Mount Halimun
The sky was a bit cloudy that afternoon at the foot of Moount Halimon, Pidie. Our motorbike started to enter a mountain slope. Unexpectedly, a chill suddenly swelled. Stab like a needle. A few minutes ago it had just rained in this area. The road and trees still look wet. Your motorbike crawls with extra care. If not can be dangerous. Because almost all the way and the proof slope that is passed is very slippery and steep.
"Soon we'll be there. It's the mountain that has fog above,” said my friend from Sigki City. Around 17:00 WIB, we stopped. Just below the slopes of the mountain. We parked the motorbike and started taking photos.
Halimon is also called Mount Aulia. People also often call it a misty mountain. This name turns out to be in accordance with what it seems. As far as the eye can see, the peak of Halimon is always touched by the mist that surrounds the Tangse sky.
Mount Halimon has become a legend for the people of Aceh. According to Mr.Ali, 50 residents of Pulo Mesjid Village, it is not easy for us to reach the top of Halimon. In the forest of Mount Halimon it has a life other than the real world. Many people with evil intentions enter the Halimon forest, on the way lost.
The peak of Mount Halimon, which is always shrouded in fog, causes the cold temperature to be unbearable for the human body. Some narrations say, the water that flows down the slopes of the mountain is very clear and cold. One can only pick it up by dipping the hand. If you put your feet in, then the person concerned will feel numb.
While on the way up to the top of Halimon we should not be happy. While at the top, everyone should be with clean intentions. Excess jokes are not allowed. "On our way there are many taboos, we can't just clap or whistle. If we clap or whistle, heavy rain will fall and we will get lost or experience mystical things beyond our awareness," said Marwan, a resident of Tiro Villager.
Musa, another resident of Tiro Village, said that it is not as easy as imagined to be able to travel to the top of Halimon. Various trials and mystical events will be experienced by those who intend to go to the peak. Because the mountain is the place of the holy and sacred. The real event and will definitely be experienced is being bitten by a type of animal that looks like a caterpillar.
This type of animal bites when it bites it will enter the body and exit through the human bottom hole and usually if the antidote is not immediately received, the person will die. "Therefore, if we are bitten by an animal, we should not immediately pull it out. But the tail of the beast was tied with a thread and pulled up. Because when the teeth have entered our bodies. The teeth continue to dig in and make holes in the human body," he said.
Tiro is a fertile area and is famous for its pretty good natural products. One of them is durian, rice and cocoa. Tiro is located in the south of Sigli City with a distance of approximately 42 Km. The majority of Tiro residents work as farmers and garden workers.
From a distance, Halimon was still covered in smog as the reporters left Tiro Village. Moments later, it rained heavily. The road back became slippery. But Halimon still stood tall in the mist above Tiro's sky.
