Strip Down

Bare Trees Season Hunt

As beauty is swept away, gray skies cover causing pause, a delay in the life of a tree. As mentioned casually in comment, sub-tropical environment we seldom see trees standing bare storing much for the cold days to arrive.

Life in my sub-tropical part of the world the tree is alive and well, leaves fall when flowers appear as can be seen here in the Coral trees below, never stripped completely bare.

Erythrina lysistemon Hutch

Trees I have seen bare are normally dead trees, as from photography you will notice I normally only capture these dead trees when zooming into the bird life that tend to enjoy being out in the open able to obtain a clear view.

The trees winter surroundings...

2518-BareTrees.JPG

Oh these trees all photographed during winter months of that I was sure when going through my archives searching high and low.

Great look out from on top!

The Drongo bird and many birds visit the tree to sip the nectar in winter.

He is a majestic bird with attitude, perches there waiting for insects to come sip nectar, then grabs them for his breakfast 😜

I thought you wouldn't find any photos because you wrote there are no bare trees in South Africa, but now you have posted quite some nice trees.

I like dead trees and the photo with the Heron is great. The Storks have found a cool place to overlook the area from their huge nest.

I'm not sure if I have ever heard that song, but I like as much as I like the album cover :)

Good luck in the drawing, Joan 😊🤞

Thought about the dead trees we see, some look like antenna out in the bush standing tall and all alone. Still bare, but not in the same meaning as your amazing trees that sleep.

Trees struck by lightning normally carry black burn traces these do no so must have just died off.

Song and cover a little added extra seeing we don't enjoy winter quite like you do 😌

Some trees just die ... I have never thought about why they die, except through lightning strikes, humans or other circumstances.

Perhaps they make room for younger trees, soil condition may go wrong or just simply old age 😂

There could be many reasons, just as you say, but to me, trees have always somehow lived forever ... until we cut them to make firewood 🤣 !LOLZ

So the show goes on, reinvent ourselves to fix one thing then break the next in line.... Sounds right!

I wonder if we have been worse before or better said if we really have fixed anything in a next round of the game or just have made the same mistakes again.

Those coral trees are amazing. We have one street in town with a couple coral and jacaranda. The orange and purple together is quite striking! As far as your birds in that lofty perch....good thing nobody is scared of heights

Coral trees always stunning along with Aloe in mid-winter brings warmth and colour during cooler months (my favourite time of the year).

Birds always tend to enjoy a great view, who can blame them taking up the penthouse in the middle of nowhere 😂

The coral tree has such pretty blooms and I really like the stork and the way his legs grip the bare tree branch.

Trees are beautiful how they lose their leaves then bloom in most exotic colour. then the lucky beans that follow which carry cultural meaning with our Zulu Nation.

We have 4 of the 170 varieties of erythrine trees, Erythrina lysistemon, Erythrina caffra, Erythrina latissima and Erythrina humeana two of which we have in a local park we visit.

Seeing many places one often thinks that looks so similar to our home country, the world is a small place with so many treasures.

Amazing how different birds are attracted to different areas, many bold birds prefer open trees to enable the proverbial "birds eye view".
