Hello #Hive friends, this is my first post in this community, but I think today is a good day to do it and share with you some pictures of my walks in my town's surroundings.

_JLP0384.jpg

Well, as often happens since the beginning of the year, as soon as I leave my house, the first thing that appears is "Chicho"... A nice little stray dog who usually accompanies me for a walk... Hummm... At first I thought it was a product of my imagination (At this stage of my life, I usually imagine things, but it doesn't seem to be serious)... But since "Chicho" appears in the photos when I edit them, then I conclude that it's real... :))

_JLP0387.jpg

Oh my, the mountains look beautiful and it doesn't look like rain will be a problem today, at least not during the morning....

_JLP0394.jpg

_JLP0400.jpg

As soon as you leave the village, you reach the small river that runs down the west side of the village... It is almost always dry, but this year the torrential rains have returned part of its once abundant flow... (And ""Chicho"" likes to run here). :)

Those who know me and follow my blog, will know that I usually take (almost always) street pictures or pictures of the nearby rural roads and I usually accompany them with some stories, so these pictures today are perhaps not what I usually share, but I'll do my best...

_JLP0403.jpg

_JLP0405.jpg

After passing the riverbed, the road is relatively flat and with trees on the sides for about 500 meters... A pleasant place to walk.

_JLP0408.jpg

The old gate of the farm "El Central" shows little or no recent use... Many of these farms no longer produce as much as they did years ago and remain inactives...

_JLP0409.jpg

Right where the ascent begins, the vegetation combines gallery forests with primary savannah vegetation... This looks beautiful during the months of heavy rains.

_JLP0410.jpg

There is even a small bamboo forest on one side of the road.... Chicho watches curiously and scrutinizes everything while listening to the birds in the foliage.

_JLP0414.jpg

And suddenly... The road starts to get steeper and I begin to realize my precarious state of fitness!... Ha ha ha ha... :))

Y repentinamente... :))

As it happens, the rains have been so torrential and continuous this year, that we barely had a morning without rain (although not entirely sunny) so I wanted to go out for a walk that would allow me to breathe some fresh air and observe the landscape and the relatively clear skies.

_JLP0415.jpg

But it is worth every step, every view of the landscape delights me, the greens, the whites and the blues, pulsing with each other to provide a natural and beautiful view.

_JLP0417.jpg

The landscape to the northwest, a view that combines mountains and blue skies with imposing, whitish clouds...

_JLP0420.jpg

To the west is the town, nestled between the greenery and its mountains, with a sun that cannot be seen, but that struggles to illuminate through the clouds that are determined to hide it.

I decided to walk towards the mountains to the west of the village, whose path starts quite close to my house and is quite accessible... These mountains are part of the Central North Coastal mountain range of our country and are called "La Copa and El Peñón"...

_JLP0429.jpg

A glimpse of a small peasant's house in the area... I love this simple and eloquent view... I almost took it to Black and White!.... I think I will later!... ;-)

_JLP0431.jpg

For heaven's sake... What's wrong with the road... Do I really have to climb something so steep...? :(

_JLP0436.jpg

The landscape to the south... Behind the mountains that can be seen in the background, our region of the central plains begins...

_JLP0453.jpg

Behind me, the village is getting smaller and smaller... And "Chicho" starts to lift his paw and to pee everywhere... An unmistakable sign that he is not happy with how tiring this walk is, for sure!... He will surely go back to the village and leave me alone... :))

_JLP0454.jpg

And hanging sweetly on a leaf by the side of the road: "One of our most stinging and toxic Saturniidae caterpillars"... A beautiful way to end up in the hospital if one is not cautious and brushes against it!... :)

_JLP0465.jpg

This has to be a joke!... How long is this damned road going to get steeper?.... I'm almost out of breath... :(

Esto tiene que ser una broma!... ¿Hasta cuando va empinarse este condenado camino?... Estoy casi sin aire...:(

_JLP0466.jpg

Suddenly, behind me, I hear a loud "Hello Jesus!"... Good heavens, I almost died of fright!.... I turn around and see someone ascending at a devilish speed, he passes me by a couple of meters and stops to look at me.... He says to me: "You are going slow because you are taking pictures, see you later"... And he keeps going up the road as if it were a plain... Who the hell is this man?... How does he know my name?... Geez, I'm probably hallucinating because of the lack of oxygen... ha ha ha :)

_JLP0468.jpg

Several kilometers to the north, you can see the mountains of "El Marquero"... Covered with jungle, today in danger due to the illegal logging of its trees... Someday I would like to go there and take pictures... But with my current physical condition, I think I will have to: pay for a helicopter ride to do it!... :)

_JLP0471.jpg

The road is classified according to the municipality as "Road suitable only for four-wheel drive vehicles".... But I think this guys will have to change that to: "Road suitable only for goats and mules"... :)

_JLP0492.jpg

This is lovely stuff... On a flat stretch of the ascent, someone is building a nice cabin with a spectacular view of the village valley... This will surely be a nice place to visit in the future...

I have decided to leave a second part of this hike for next week, as the photos are too many due to the fact that it was a relatively long walk (about 8 kilometres including the outward and return journey).

_JLP0481.jpg

But before I finish the post: "This is me in the middle of my walk"... And I'm not laughing because I'm only very happy, I'm laughing because I didn't die of exhaustion and I've reached a flat place! :)

Thank you very much to all of you who came by and appreciated, reblogged and/or commented... We will see you next Wednesday with the second part of this walk...

Saludos y suerte.

I so loved you post my friend @jlinaresp 😊
Welcome to our community.
This post is definitely different but please join us soon again.
You did so well in this first part of your walk. Well done! Going all the way up the steep hill.
The views are breathtakingly beautiful! The greenery. So cute Chicho follows you along. Makes a walk more pleasant.

The caterpillar 🐛 is stunning 🤩 good that you know it is dangerous.
I think… I would have been shocked to when the man suddenly appeared… being tired and climbing up.
It all did make me laugh 😆 thanks for that. Good humour in this post.
Looking forward to next week. (Part 2)

Deeply grateful for your appreciation and support my dear @littlebee4 friend!.... It is a pleasure for me to be able to share here.... Ah... ¡Chicho!... I've learned to love that little doggy!... I've wanted to put him to sleep in a little shed I have in one of my yards (away from my cats and dogs)... But Chicho doesn't like it and cries when I take him there.... He is an absolute stray dog!.... My neighbour across the street has also wanted to keep him in his house, but he reacts in the same way!... I think Chicho takes his freedom very seriously!... :( For the time being, everyone in the neighbourhood is providing him with food and water, we have even healed a small wound on his paw.... We are planning to bathe him and put flea powder on him.... But maybe Chicho won't think that's a good idea!... ha ha ha :)).... Thank you very much for your comments always... A hug!...

You are so welcome @jlinaresp 😊
Aaawww that’s great to read a bit more about Chicho. I can imagine he likes his freedom and still is looked after by the community.
Hope it works out well to give him a bath and some flee powder 🤞🏻🍀 maybe he understands it would be good for him. Let’s see what happens. Let me know 😉🤓
Anytime my friend, huggss back.
