Today... After a soft lunch, I wanted to go to my mother's house to chat with her and hang out.... For me, going to my mother's house is something quite simple, as we have houses separated only by walls but they are attached, so I just have to go through a couple of doors that connect gardens and patios and I'll be in front of my mother's house immediately...

Hoy... Después de un ligero almuerzo, quise ir a la casa de mi madre para charlar un rato con ella y pasar el rato... Para mi, ir a casa de madre es algo bastante simple, pues tenemos casas separadas solo por paredes pero están adjuntas, así que solo tengo que pasar un par de puertas que conectan jardines y patios y de inmediato estaré en en frente de mi casa materna...

But as soon as I arrived my mother's house, I realised she was taking a nap... Surely she had also recently had lunch and was resting after that...

Pero apenas al entrar a la casa de mi madre, me percaté de que ella se encontraba durmiendo una siesta... Seguramente también habría almorzado recientemente y estaba descansando después de eso...

So, I decided take advantage of the moment and wander around the my mother's house courtyards and gardens for a while... There is always something to see, aldo each corner are full of memories of my childhood and youth...

Entonces decidí aprovechar el momento y deambular un poco por los patios y jardines de la casa de mi madre... Allí siempre hay algo que ver y sus rincones están llenos de recuerdos de mi niñez y juventud...

And obviously I had a camera hanging in my backpack!... I think my bathroom is the only place I go without a camera these days!... ha ha ha :)... I hope I don't think taking it in there!.... But for the moment, these are the pictures then of my time today in "Sara's Garden" as that's my Mum's name...

¡Y obviamente que llevaba una cámara colgando en mi mochila!... ¡Creo que mi baño es el único lugar a el que voy sin una cámara últimamente!... ha ha ha ... ¡Espero que no se me ocurra llevarla allí!... Pero por los momentos, estas son las fotos entonces de mi rato de hoy en el "Jardín de Sara" pues ese es el nombre de mi Mamá...

"Pascualitas"... This is the name my mother gives to these charming flowers... They usually appear at the end of the rainy season and presage the arrival of the dry season (lately the weather has been crazy enough for that not to happen)... These climbing plants grow by themselves in the courtyards year after year, nobody has planted them here... I have seen them growing since I was a child.

"Pascualitas"... Es el nombre que mi madre da a estas encantadoras flores... Ella suelen aparecer al final de la temporada lluviosa y presagian la llegada de la temporadas seca (Últimamente el clima está lo suficientemente loco, como para que eso no se cumpla)... Estas plantas trepadoras nacen por si mismas en los patios año a año, nadie las ha sembrado aquí... Las he visto nacer desde que yo era un niño.

"Nana"... This is my mother's favourite cat... Nana came to us when we adopted her three years ago after my father's death... My mother wanted to have more pets to help her cope with the loss.... Nana is a lovely cat and sleeps with my mother daily!...

"Nana"... Esta es la gata favorita de mi madre... Nana llegó a nosotros cuando la adoptamos tres años atrás después de fallecer mi padre... Mi madre quiso tener más mascotas para llevar mejor la perdida... ¡Nana es una gata encantadora y duerme con mi madre diariamente!...

"Onoto"... My mother has an old onoto tree (Bixa orellana) whose seeds she uses to give colour to her food... At this time of the year the pods are still unopened and are beautifully coloured and have a curious texture.

"Onoto"... Mi madre tiene un viejo árbol de onoto (Bixa orellana) cuyas semillas usa para dar color a sus comidas... En esta época del año las vainas están aún sin abrir y son de hermosa coloración y curiosa textura.

"Christ's Crown"... Another plant that has been in our gardens for as long as I can remember... Its stems are horribly thorny (hence its name) but its flowers are portentously beautiful. Its scientific name is Euphorbia milii.

"Corona de Cristo"... Otra planta que ha estado en nuestros jardines desde que tengo uso de razón... Sus tallos son horriblemente espinosos (de ahí su nombre) pero sus flores son portentosamente hermosas. Su nombre científico es Euphorbia milii.

"Coffee"... Mum has 16 coffee plants in her backyard. They are relatively new plants, I planted them myself about 6 years ago, but Mom has already harvested the coffee seeds for the second year and we have been able to enjoy this delicious drink in a "totally organic and home grown" way... Simply exquisite!...

"Café"... Mamá tiene 16 plantas de café en su patio trasero. Son plantas relativamente nuevas, yo mismo las sembré unos 6 años atrás, pero ya Mamá a cosechado por segundo año las semillas de café y hemos podido disfrutar de esa deliciosa bebida de forma "totalmente orgánica y cultivada por nosotros"... ¡Sencillamente exquisito!...

"New and strange"... Gee, I guess I've been distracted lately, this plant is something new in Mum's gardens.... I'll have to ask her what it's all about!...

"Nueva y extraña"... Caray, creo que he estado distraído últimamente, esta planta es algo nuevo en los jardines de Mamá... ¡Tendré que preguntarle de que se trata!..

"Anicillo"... Mum plants these small, profusely flowering plants in pots and planters... They are simple and pretty flowers, but the charming thing about this plant is its deep "aniseed" smell... As soon as you trip over the plants, the smell fills the air.

"Anicillo"... Mamá siembra estas pequeñas plantas de profusa floración, en macetas y jardineras... Son flores sencillas y lindas, pero lo encantador de esta planta es su olor profundamente a "anís"... Apenas tropezar las plantas el olor inunda el aire.

"Grandma's roses"... This strain of roses has been in the family since the 70's, when my maternal grandmother grew them in the same gardens... I remember pricking myself with their thorns many times... ha ha ha ha :))

"Las rosas de la Abuela"... Esta cepa de rosas ha estado en la familia desde los años 70, cuando mi abuela materna las cultivaba en estos mismos jardines... Recuerdo haberme pinchado con sus espinas muchas veces... ha ha ha :))

"Mum's succulents"... Mum loves succulent plants and I think I can do several posts with the ones she has in her garden.... But today I'll settle for sharing this photo of one of the prettiest ones I see around here.

"Las suculentas de Mamá"... Mamá ama las plantas suculentas y creo que que puedo hacer varios posts con las que ella tiene en su jardín... Pero hoy me conformo con compartir esta foto de una de las más lindas que veo por aquí.

"Dad's Lettuces"... Dad loved to grow vegetables, and lettuces were one of his favourites... Even when he was ill, I remember him transplanting small lettuce plants from small pots to the planters, sitting in his wheelchair... Now Mum still collects the seeds and re-cycles the sowing every 6 months like Dad used to do... We always have fresh lettuces around here!.... :)

"Las Lechugas de Papá"... Papá amaba sembrar legumbres, entre ellas las lechugas eran unas de sus favoritas... Inclusive estando enfermo, le recuerdo trasplantando pequeñas plantas de lechugas desde pequeños potes a las jardineras, sentado en su silla de ruedas... Ahora Mamá sigue colectando las semillas y volviendo a hacer ciclos de siembra cada 6 meses como Papá solía hacer... ¡Siempre tenemos lechugas frescas por aquí!... :)

"The Baby Roses"... These are other plants which have been here since I was a child and have memories... They are beautifully coloured, intricately structured roses with hundreds of tiny petals squeezed together... And they are divinely tiny!... (You can see my index finger for comparison).

"Las rosas Bebé"... Estas son otras plantas las cuales han estado aquí desde que soy un niño y tengo memorias... Son unas rosas de bello color, de complejísima estructura con cientos de pequeños pétalos apretujados... ¡Y son divinamente diminutas!... (Pueden ver mi dedo indice para comparar).

"Papaya"... In Mum's patios not all the plants are ornamental as you can see... The papayas (Carica papaya) have started to flower and you can already see the little fruits emerging!.... In a few months we will be eating papayas...

"Papaya"... En los patios de Mamá no todas las plantas son ornamentales como pueden ver... ¡Los papayos (Carica papaya) han comenzado a florecer y ya se pueden ver las pequeñas frutas emergiendo!... En unos meses comeremos papayas...

"Moss"... Well, this was obviously not planted by my mother... But the mosses are beautiful, they appear only during the rainy months and I think they deserve a photo!... ;-)

"Musgo"... Bien, esto no lo ha sembrado mi madre obviamente... ¡Pero los musgos son lindos, aparecen silo durante los meses de lluvia y me parece que merecen una foto!... ;-)

"Ah, there's Nana"... Ha ha ha :)) I had lost sight of Nana and I found her in the middle of one of the corners where the plants are thicker and it's dark"... Nana doesn't seem to like me taking photos here!...

"Ah, allí está Nana"... Ha ha ha :)) Había perdido de vista a Nana y la he encontrado en medio de uno de los rincones en donde las plantas están más tupidas y hay penumbra"... ¡A Nana parece no gustarle demasiado que yo tome fotos por aquí!...

"Jack Russell Gardeners" :-) These are two regular inhabitants of our gardens... The one on the left is "Bruno" (11 years old) and the one on the right is "Maura" (12 years old) they are our oldest pair of Jack Russells Terrires (we have 6 in total, but they are in separate spaces due to their strong character)... Bruno and Maura were acquired by us when they were small puppies, to keep my father company when he fell ill... These beloved dogs were excellent therapists for my father and made his life much more bearable until the time of his passing.... These are two wonderful members of our family.

"Jardineros Jack Russell" :-) Estos son dos habitantes habituales de nuestros jardines... El de la izquierda es "Bruno" (11 años) y la de la derecha es "Maura" (12 años) son nuestra pareja de Jack Russells Terriers de mayor edad (tenemos 6 en total, pero están en espacios separados debido a su fuerte carácter)... Bruno y Maura fueron adquiridos por nosotros siendo pequeños cachorros, para hacer compañía a mi padre cuando cayó enfermo... Estos amados perritos fueron excelentes terapeutas para mi padre e hicieron su vida mucho más llevadera hasta el momento de su deceso... Estos son dos maravillosos miembros de nuestra familia.
