Last time I lost everything I owned it was my dogs that I missed the most, because they actually loved me.
Thanks!
I know exactly how you feel. These were my three treasures and light in my life that got took from me, that i miss the most.
They live on inside our hearts.
Philip Pullman, in his phenomenal fictional work called HIS DARK MATERIALS describes a world where humans and their soul-expressions, called Familiars (pulled from the realm of Witchcraft), co-exist together. Each human in the story world has their own unique soul-expressions and the two entities are entwined with each other down tot he original sin level (original sin is a major concept/driving force of the books, pulled from the ancient spiritual discovery of Original Sin...Buddhism calls it "Wu Ming" (Wu meaning "nothing"; "Ming" meaning light).
They can feel each other's emotions through soul-communication; the Familiar can transform into any shape according to the human's mood changes, but often settles on one specific ego-form that reflects the identity of a person. So if a person (in that fictional world) wishes to know about someone, all they must do is to look at the soul-companion and they will know, by the gestures of the soul-animal, how the human is feeling.
The soul-animal is also an extension of the human's senses. They also have a physical limitation on how far the two entities can be separated; the two entities will feel extreme joy when they are close to each other, and extreme pain when pulled too far from each other, to the point where the humans can actually die if the two entities are severed (this is also a major driving force of the plot).
