Week 313 My Splinterlands Art Contest Entry | Swell Spore Beast

Art Process

Drawing monsters or gnarly creatures is not what I am familiar with. Most of the time, I draw humans or humanoids- just a little tweaks in anatomy, but in a full form is not what I am good at. Though not my cup of tea, I try to draw as such once in a while. I sometimes transform these creatures into chibi ones. So in this case, I turned Swell Spore Beast.

I just fill in the white space with the base colors picked from the original card. I got boosebumps with those circles, haha! It was kind of icky- or am I just imagining things, haha. Next is applying the texture of the wood. I just used a textured brush and an airbrush to create those details.

Adding more shades on those yellow "eggs" and adding a darker shade of brown to the wood. Here, I added the glowing flame on the hand using add glow layer and airbrush.

Final Art

Lastly, add a simple green gradient background and a drop shadow.
