It has been more than a month since the last chibi I created. I stopped for over a month because at one point, I got exhausted. This time I am in the frame of mind to make a chibi for @erikasue!

I got closer to her sister Ate @pinkchic through our conversations in the HivePH Discord. We talked about anything under the sun. She was so easy to talk to and I really enjoyed her company. She is like my big sister already.

I suddenly have the gush of memory of Erika. This was when I remembered the time Erika requested me to have her own chibi, but unfortunately, the list was already full. If only I have a second body to do all the extra work, I will do it in a heartbeat. I got a bit guilty because it was a few days after I learned the news about her.

Before creating a chibi for her, of course, I asked for permission first from her big sis. I asked Ate Pinkchic to send me references for Erika.

She's so pretty, isn't?

I described Erikas as this sweet girl that is very approachable to every one. She got those sparkling eyes and rose-colored cheeks. She is like a doll in real life. Also, she sang beautifully as if a lullaby of the Summer rain.

One time I asked about the shade of her lipstick, lol. That is when I got closer to Erika actually. We talked about girl stuff like makeup, which is my interest too. I saved the shade color of the lipstick in my notes so that I will not lose the shade color.

Translation: Try Maybelline Globetrotter or Strokes in Flamingo. I forgot which between the two.

Up to this day, I still have that note in my phone. I did not delete it even though I have already memorized the shade color of the lipstick. It kind of reminded me also of the budding friendship that we had. How I wish we got more closer. (Okay, literally ninja's cutting onion- hate when my eyes sweat, ugh).

Ate Pinkchic sent me a beautiful photo of Erika in Filipina attire. This clothing is an iconic cultural identity of Filipino women. It is also known as the Maria Clara gown. Usually, the dress has puffy sleeves and a long skirt. When wearing Filipiniana, ladies' hair is usually in a bun. Today, Filipiniana evolved which gave way to put different styles and patterns. For Erika, I chose sunflowers in her dress since it is her favorite flower. 🌻

I got stuck drawing sunflowers. So, the best way to do it is to go to Pinterest to find a reference for a sunflower. It is not bad to get inspo pictures in the internet as long as you interpret them in your style.

In my case, I drew the petals using the symmetry brush because ya girl can't make perfect mirrored curves, HAHA! I also opted to color picker tool to copy the shade of yellow.

Fun fact: Sunflower is the birth flower of Leo peeps. I am not really into zodiac stuff but interesting to know, UwU. Leo sign people are thought to be brilliant, confident, creative, and generous. By the way, I am a Leo!

I then added more details such as the blush, hair shine, and skin shadow. The pendant and earrings are in gold color with a shining pearl as the accent. To finish this chibi art, I chose a baby blue color for the background to complement the color yellow of the sunflower. I patterned it with the shape of the diamond because Erika's eyes shine like diamonds. It is very captivating, isn't it?

Conclusion:

I believe that frienship does not stop when we can no longer communicate or can physical see each other. A friendship is a bond forever. Whatever happens, friends remain in our hearts and minds. Friendship is about connection and memories with loved ones. Someday we will meet again, not sooner but I know wherever she is, she is happy. Forever loved and remembered. 🤍

It took me about an hour to finish this chibi art because I want to make sure that I did not miss a thing. I really enjoyed drawing the sunflower even if the petals were hard to draw, HAHA! Or am I just being a perfectionist? I am so happy that Ate Pinkchic allowed me to draw Erika in her chibi form. I know Erika will love this chibi character, hihi.
