Recientemente celebramos el cumpleaños de la menor de mis dos sobrinas amadas. Días previos al día de cumpleaños estuve pensando en qué poder regalar a mi sobrinita que fuera lo suficientemente especial y que la conmoviera.

Me detuve a pensar en sus gustos, a ella le gusta mucho como tejo, frecuentemente me envía imágenes de proyectos tejidos. Entre las imágenes que me había compartido recordé que me había enviado un ramo de flores tejidos con muchísimas flores y amigurrumis (muñeco tejido en la técnica de tejido crochet). Inmediatamente me dispuse a buscar la imagen, no podía tejer algo así porque no tendría el tiempo, más sé que a ella le gustan los girasoles; y así se dio inicio a un hermoso proyecto.

We recently celebrated the birthday of the youngest of my two beloved nieces. Days before her birthday I was thinking about what I could give my little niece that would be special enough and that would move her.

I stopped to think about her tastes, she really likes knitting, she frequently sends me images of knitting projects. Among the images that she had shared with me, I remembered that she had sent me a bouquet of flowers knitted with many flowers and amigurrumis (a doll knitted using the crochet technique). I immediately set out to look for her image, I couldn't knit something like that because I wouldn't have the time, but I know that she likes sunflowers; and thus a beautiful project began.

How did the development of this project begin?

En un inicio me detuve a pensar, tengo una limitante, no estoy en mi residencia habitual, por lo que no tengo todos los materiales requeridos para tejer el girasol. Lo que si, es que había trasladado algunos hilos y había comprado otros en la ciudad en donde me encontraba en ese momento, me dije "calma, revisa los hilos ". Eso hice y si tenía todo lo requerido para poder realizar el girasol a mi sobrina.

At first I stopped to think, I have a limitation, I am not in my usual residence, so I do not have all the materials required to weave the sunflower. What I did know is that I had moved some threads and had bought others in the city where I was at that time, I told myself "calm down, check the threads." I did that and I did have everything required to be able to make the sunflower for my niece.

Una vez resuelto el problema me dispuse a iniciar el proyecto, para este proyecto usé tres colores de hilos, amarillo, marrón y verde. Los tres hilos son de características y grosores diferentes, así que tuve que jugar un poco con las agujas y así obtener un gran resultado, cuidando como siempre la prolijidad de mis trabajos.

Comencé por el color marrón, lo que representa el centro del girasol, luego hice otra pieza en color verde (sería la parte trasera del girasol) con las mismas características del color marrón. Luego de realizadas esta piezas las fui uniendo con el color amarillo a medida que iba tejiendo los pétalos del girasol. Es toda una experiencia fascinante cómo se va armando el girasol a media que lo iba tejiendo.

Once the problem was solved, I prepared to start the project. For this project I used three colors of thread, yellow, brown and green. The three threads have different characteristics and thicknesses, so I had to play a little with the needles and thus obtain a great result, taking care as always of the neatness of my work.

I started with the brown color, which represents the center of the sunflower, then I made another piece in green (it would be the back of the sunflower) with the same characteristics of the brown color. After making these pieces, I joined them with the yellow color as I was weaving the sunflower petals. It is quite a fascinating experience how the sunflower comes together while weaving it.

Finalmente tejí las hojitas, en este caso tejí dos hojas. Las cuales uní cuidadosamente al tallo.

Una vez que estaba completado el girasol y aprovechando los árboles del jardín de mis padres me dispuse a hacer algunas tomas a esta hermosa flor que ha resultado de un proceso maravilloso de tejido.

Finally I wove the leaves, in this case I wove two leaves. Which I carefully attached to the stem.

Once the sunflower was completed and taking advantage of the trees in my parents' garden, I began to take some shots of this beautiful flower that has resulted from a wonderful weaving process.

Una flor no es suficiente

One flower is not enough

Una vez terminado el girasol, me parecía que para armar un ramo, me faltaban flores. Recordé que una bella sobrina hace tulipanes tejidos @anjiart y vi que eran muy sencillos, así que me dije "tejeré tulipanes"

Once the sunflower was finished, it seemed to me that to put together a bouquet, I was missing flowers. I remembered that a beautiful niece makes knitted tulips @anjiart and I saw that they were very simple, so I said to myself "I'll knit tulips"

Así que me dispuse a ver qué hilos tenía, y comenzó la diversión de tejer tulipanes. A medida que terminaba uno quería iniciar otro inmediatamente, es que realmente fascinante tejer flores.

So I set out to see what threads I had, and the fun of knitting tulips began. As I finished one I wanted to start another immediately, it is really fascinating to knit flowers.

Luego de tejer sus hojitas y de realizar el armado para formar los tulipanes, estos no se escaparon de una sesión fotográfica.

After weaving their leaves and assembling them to form the tulips, they did not escape a photo session.

El reto del proyecto

The challenge of the project

Todo proyecto de tejido tiene sus dificultades, unos más que otros. En este caso, el reto no estuvo relacionado al desarrollo de las flores tejidas, estuvo relacionado al armado del ramo.

Visité unos cuantos tutoriales en youtube y en pinterest, y al intentar aplicar lo que me indicaban, no funcionaba. Por lo cual, deseché seguir un tutorial, en ocasiones pierdo la paciencia, y esta era una de esas ocasiones.

Respiré, me distraje un rato y volví nuevamente. Comencé a armar el ramo como lo consideraba y allí salió. Sé que tengo que mejorar, otro día me dedico a aprender con algún tutorial.

Every knitting project has its difficulties, some more than others. In this case, the challenge was not related to the development of the woven flowers, it was related to the assembly of the bouquet.

I visited a few tutorials on YouTube and Pinterest, and when I tried to apply what they told me, it didn't work. Therefore, I refused to follow a tutorial, sometimes I lose my patience, and this was one of those occasions.

I breathed, distracted myself for a while and came back again. I began to put together the bouquet as I considered it and there it came out. I know I have to improve, another day I will dedicate myself to learning with a tutorial.

The challenge of the project

Me encantan que los regalos lleven su tarjeta bien sea impresa o escrita a mano. Eso le da una distinción al regalo, lo personaliza y se vuelve especial.

Bajo esa consideración, este regalo no se escapó de ese detalle.

I love that gifts have their card, whether printed or handwritten. That gives a distinction to the gift, personalizes it and makes it special.

Under that consideration, this gift did not escape that detail.

Llegó el día de la entrega de los regalos de cumpleaños de mi sobrina, entre ellos el ramo de flores, ella quedó fascinada, conmovida y sorprendida con su ramo, me lo agradeció infinitamente.

The day arrived for the delivery of my niece's birthday gifts, including the bouquet of flowers, she was fascinated, moved and surprised with her bouquet, she thanked me infinitely.

He tejido muchos proyectos, este particularmente ha sido muy especial por quien lo motivó y por lo maravilloso de tener la oportunidad de hacer una replica de la naturaleza a través de mis manos, esa experiencia definitivamente me deja feliz, impactada y enamorada. A por más proyectos como este.

I have knitted many projects, this one in particular has been very special because of who motivated it and because of the wonderfulness of having the opportunity to make a replica of nature through my hands, that experience definitely leaves me happy, impacted and in love.
