Solea Mactan Cebu Resort: Chill staycation with family
I had a long overdue booking from Solea Mactan Cebu Resort, and finally, we pushed through with our reservation because I really needed to take a break and be with my family even if just for a day.
Just a quick background of Solea Mactan Cebu Resort, it is a 30-minute drive from the Mactan Airport and the property is so huge with over 300 rooms and 7 swimming pools with an inflatable island.
This staycation is quite memorable for me and my hubby because this is our first time to go out and spend a weekend in a resort without bringing our baby’s yaya (nanny) not even our parents to help us watch for our 1-year old baby. Upon checking in at the resort, it was already challenging because they’re fully booked and the lobby was so crowded that I have to stay at the corner just to isolate ourselves from the crowd and let my husband do the lining in the check-in counter. We waited for almost 2-hours before we were given our room so it is also 2-hours carrying my baby but I have to endure it. I’m not complaining though because I can’t remember the last time I carried my baby with me in my arms since I got back to work maybe when she was still 3 months old? But the experience of having her in my arms while she was peacefully sleeping brings back the memories of when she was still a newborn baby, very surreal.
Finally, we got our keycard and went straight to our room to rest a little bit. There were still ongoing renovations happening in the building but I love the view in our room because they gave us the pool view and at the same time it’s also facing the sea.
The room was big enough for the two of us and the baby and it's clean.
They provide water drinking stations at the lobby so no need to bring water instead bring containers.
For dinner, I made a reservation at their Earth restaurant and pre-ordered our food so that after swimming we can have our dinner right away. We don’t want to risk going out since parking might be difficult. My best friend also checked in at the same resort with us so we had our dinner together. The food is a bit pricey though but every penny is worth it because the food was great plus the staff was really accommodating to us.
After a sumptuous meal, we went to their SALT & SKY rooftop lounge to enjoy the rest of the night. Glad that they accept kids there so we had alfresco dined and watched the amazing view of the place.
SALT & SKY is open every Saturday from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
They have re-opened their Aquaplay for kids and kids at heart.
What are its amenities?
- Collection of swimming pools (Aquaplay)
- Inflatable island
- Biking and hover-boarding
- Indoor games (but due to covid, it's still close)
- Endless IG-worthy spots
What did I love about the place?
I would much appreciate having another staycation in Solea Mactan Cebu Resort but not during peak season so that we will not experience the long queues in checking in but overall we enjoyed our stay especially seeing those smiles and laughs of our baby while playing with other kids in the Aquaplay pool.
Their food was great even during our breakfast, they have quite a selection. The staff were all attentive to our requests, they even provided a high chair for my baby even if I didn’t ask for it. They were still able to take a photo of us even if I know that they’re very busy. The swimming pools were treated and maintained well.

This much-deserved break was really helpful not just for myself but for my family. I was able to bond with them and did not bother to update my social media accounts instead I took a lot of photos with my baby enjoying her day.
I hope everyone will try to take a good break even if just for a day or a few hours out of the day. I’ll see you all Hivers on my next staycation. Bye 💚
