ENCUENTRO

Nos conocimos una noche
que, por cierto,
empezó siendo alucinatoria.
Una lustral llovizna absolvía la oscuridad
y aunque no se veía,
el agua hizo de espejo a las estrellas.

Fue una noche de amor;
con el jardín regado de flores
que no fueron necesarias,
con la vieja libreta de registrar lo hermoso
que no tuvo necesidad de palabras;
hasta los astros estaban conscientes
de que sólo servirían desde lejos;
que esa noche
nuestros cuerpos se reconocerían
porque las mañanas previas
nos habíamos soñado.

MEETING

We met one night
which, by the way,
began hallucinatory.
A lustrous drizzle was enveloping the darkness
and although they couldn't see each other
the water mirrored the stars.

It was a night of love;
with the garden watered with flowers
that were not necessary,
with the old notebook to record the beautiful
that had no need for words;
even the stars were aware
that they would only serve from afar;
that that night
our bodies would recognize each other
because the previous mornings
we had dreamed of each other.
