Con este escrito hago mi participación en la iniciativa actualmente activa de la comunidad de humanitas, la cual tiene que ver con el tema migratorio. Del cual quiero afirmar desde un primer momento que se trata de un tema complejo, ya que si nos fijamos en un punto tan particular como lo es sus causas, por ejemplo, tenemos que decir que existe una amplia variedad.

Como venezolano puedo hablar de ella desde dos puntos de vista, ya que en primer lugar, he podido tener contacto con personas que de otros países han venido a recidir a éste, la mayoría buscando establecer un emprendimiento que le diera estabilidad a su vida por estos lares. Maravillados además por la hermosura de nuestros paisajes y la calidez de las personas. Que gusto me da escuchar sus historias, pues, están llenas de muchas anécdotas de esfuerzo y lucha dignas de emular, que les permitieron fortalecer su voluntad y llegar hasta donde hoy están, felices por haber cumplido sus sueños.

Ahora bien, en segundo lugar, también puedo hablar de otro tipo de proceso migratorio. Donde a pesar de que puede tener motivos semejantes al que anteriormente he comentado (buscar un mejor futuro) sus causas las hacen dispares. En efecto, cuántos personas en este segundo caso, he conocido que se van no porque quieren sino movidos por las circunstancias socio económicas, casi que se sienten expulsados, por la imposibilidad de no poder ni siquiera luchar aquí por sus sueños. Por eso, en Venezuela hablamos en gran medida de diáspora, pues, el factor externo que motiva la emigración tiene mucho peso, por otra parte, es algo que se da en un gran número de venezolanos.

Son muchas las cosas que podemos reflexionar aquí, como la necesidad de políticas migratorias que atiendan a los inmigrantes según los diversos factores que motivan su salida del país, ya que al final todos somos "terráqueos" y debemos aprender a tendernos la mano unos a otros. No obstante, quisiera ante todo resaltar - como dice el título de este post - la riqueza cultural de cualquier tipo de proceso migratorio que quizá en el segundo caso nombrado vale mucho la pena resaltar para quitarnos la venda de que todo es malo.

La riqueza cultural se hace evidente por el compartir de diversas tradiciones, historias y, sobre todo, valores que hacen complementarnos unos con otros. Recuerdo como por ejemplo en mi parroquia de origen se hizo una gruta a la virgen de Fátima, ya que había una gran cantidad de portugueses allí. Su inauguración y todavía hoy su celebración cada 13 de mayo es una hermosa festividad.

Por esta razón, a pesar de las diversas dificultades que uno sabe viven nuestros compatriotas en el exterior, particularmente siento alegría el tener la certeza como muchos de nuestros hermanos están llevando lo mejor de nuestro país a otras tierras. Trayendo a colación otro ejempo religioso, y siendo barquisimetano, puedo compartir cómo este año la procesión de la Divina Pastora en el extranjero fue muy concurrida y cada año se arraiga más. Digamos lo mismo de cosas como nuestra gastronomía, profesionalismo y buen sentido del humor.

With this writing, I am participating in the currently active initiative of the Humanitas community, which has to do with the migration topic. I want to affirm from the outset that this is a complex issue, as if we look at a particular point such as its causes, for example, we have to say that there is a wide variety.

As a Venezuelan, I can speak of it from two points of view. First, I have been in contact with people from other countries who have come to reside here, mostly seeking to establish a business that would give them stability in their lives here. They are also amazed by the beauty of our landscapes and the warmth of our people. I am pleased to hear their stories, which are full of anecdotes of effort and struggle worthy of emulation, which allowed them to strengthen their will and reach where they are today, happy to have fulfilled their dreams.

Secondly, I can also speak of another type of migration process. Although it may have similar reasons to the one I previously mentioned (looking for a better future), its causes make it different. Indeed, how many people in this second case have I met who leave not because they want to but because they are forced to by socio-economic circumstances, almost feeling expelled, as they cannot even fight here for their dreams. That is why, in Venezuela, we talk to a great extent of the diaspora, as the external factor that motivates emigration has much weight. On the other hand, this is something that happens to a large number of Venezuelans.

There are many things we can reflect on here, such as the need for immigration policies that address immigrants according to the various factors that motivate their departure from the country, as in the end, we are all "terrestrial" and we must learn to lend a hand to each other. However, I would like to highlight above all - as the title of this post says - the cultural richness of any type of migration process that is perhaps worth highlighting in the second case mentioned to remove the veil that everything is bad.

Cultural richness is evident in the sharing of various traditions, stories, and above all, values that complement each other. For example, in my original parish, a grotto was built for the Virgin of Fatima because there were many Portuguese people there. Its inauguration and still today its celebration every May 13th is a beautiful festivity.

For this reason, despite the various difficulties that our compatriots face abroad, I particularly feel joy in knowing that many of our brothers and sisters are taking the best of our country to other lands. Bringing up another religious example, and being from Barquisimeto, I can share how this year the procession of the Divine Shepherdess abroad was very crowded and is becoming more rooted every year. The same can be said about things like our gastronomy, professionalism, and good sense of humor.
